Your embassy. You need to tranlate the marriage certificate into english, get that legalized by the thais, and then my embassy wanted to have a look at it.

The translate bureau did my second legalizing with the thais. Cheaper than I could do it, taxis and all.
They then delivered the papers to my embassy, who posted them to me.
Very convenient, and we went to Pattaya on honeymoon, and allmost got divorced

yes, but a very important one if we need to travel to UK and spend any time there.

We would both prefer to live here but circumstances may mean a spell in UK.

Wrong but find out what she has been doing. I made a mistake that ruined my life for the most part. She was a retired bar girl, I say that with great difficulty. But with all candor I am old now. Would never do that again and wish on anyone but the most deserving shits I know.

There is good and bad either way ,, it all depends on your situation ,, something to consider is whether or not your new wife will actually be able to live in the UK after she gets here . For me it would prove to expensive a mistake to marry in Thai then get her over and find after a month she wanted to go home , ( I do have a friend in Korat in a similar situation , she now lives there 90% of the year and he is in Manchester alone ) that was the last thing I wanted , so we went the fiancee visa route ,, you actually really have 5 months to make your mind up to marry and stay in the UK as you need to allow 1 month to obtain her FLR ticket . We was lucky 2 years later still in the UK and both extremely happy ,, BUT who knows what the future holds , although it is my firm intention to retire in Udon in 5 years time when I will be finacially stable enough to do so . Any way good luck mate , I hope I have shown you another angle
I'm proud of my 38" waist , also proud I have never done drugs

It may be necessary for us to spend periods in uk without actually living there full time, but thanks for your views. As i said in an earlier post, we both want to stay here ideally.

All the best to you Chas, hope it all works out. Loads of cynicism around but if the girl's good in your own judgement then that's enough! Good and bad evrywhere but my Issarn missis is as 'sound as a pound'....

    chok dee Chas!

sorry about the missunderstanding ,, as I was working from your OP ,, although having re read it I am not sure now why you asked the question in the first place ,, if your gonna marry in Thai and live there and ocasionally visit the UK surely all you will need is a visitor visa to visit the UK . If as I suspect you want to have the freedom to to and fro between Thai and UK then the best way to do that without too much aggro is to both live legally in the UK for 3 years ,the missus get dual nationality ( dont renounce her thai ) then you can come and go as you please , the only visa issue here really is yours in Thai ,,,,,,,,,,,,,this is the route weve gone down,,,,,,anyway good luck with whatever you do , non of it is particularly easy or cheap to do

That explains a lot. It must be embarrassing to get taken for a mug by someone with only the most basic of education?

We are considering a small wedding in Thailand and would love to hear from anyone who wed or is planning to wed in thailand. We have travelled there a number of times and it's our favourite o/s destination - love everything about thailand, the people, the food, the relaxation etc.

We actually stayed near the lagunaphuket complex and remember seeing the cute white chapel there (as posted by dolphin) - it looks expansive and everything in that complex was.

Just wandering if anyone has personal experience in phuket particularly.
