Leaving Thailand - know a reliable moving company

We have finally decided to leave Thailand and return to Norway sometime in the beginning of next year (mainly out of concern for the kids, who are starting school soon). Does anyone here know of a reliable moving company that will ship from door-to-door?

    Thanks in advance.

Allied Pickfords are allegedly reliable but not cheap.

They have agents in LOS and world wide.

    You might google 'em.

logem is the last one I saw picking stuff up here, look on website. i have contacted a few in the past-only one ever answered an email so call. Prices seem 3x more than it cost to send stuff from the Uk.

Good idea to leave Thailand for the kids only other option is to stay and accept them growing up to be layabouts.

Whiteshiva first sorry to loose you from our flock out here, abut I'm sure you know what is best for your family and you.

I have used Asian Tigers (they are English speaking), and they where recommended to me by a Swede who have used them several times when he has been moving around in the world working for tetrapak.

I must say I was very satisfied with their service when i had a lot that needed to go to Denmark, packing here in TH was very meticulous careful and professional, and you could follow the shipment on the net on the way home, delivery was arranged right to the door in Denmark through Asian Tigers.

But one thing, as the swede said, "they are expensive but I have never lost a thing and I have never had anything broken and every-time they have been on time".

And that is true, the service is impeccable but on the expensive side.

Here is a link to their web site- Asian Tigers Transpo - Thailand leading, Moving and Relocation Company

Hope that will be of help to you. Merry Xmas Whiteshiva

Cheers, guys - very much appreciated.

And don't worry, my new company provides free broadband at home, so I will drop by from time to time to stir up trouble here (as if that was needed!). We will also no doubt be coming back to Thailand for vacations, visiting friends and family and for me to have a drink - as I won't be able to afford a beer where I'm going.....

Actually I do - once the snow arrives and the skiing season starts. Unlike here, you can dress according to the weather and still be comfortable outdoors.

Will miss my regular G&T on the balcomy after work for sure, but a glass of red wine by the fireplace is a pretty good substitute. But most of all I look forward to spend time with the kids outdoors - hiking, camping, fishing, skiing, cycling. Not to be surrounded by morons at work, on the roads, in the shops, etc., is also a plus.........

You could always have a shot or two of Akevitt to fortify yourself against the cold too!

I have a Norwegian friend who always brings me a bottle every time he's over. Mostly, I suspect, because he knows I can't stomach the stuff.

I am also leaving Bangkok in january fo China and I got several quotes. Asian Tigers were significantly cheaper than Crown and seemed much better so I will go with them - I will let you know how the move went later!

Like all great plans, things didn't go accordingly. So now I have a couple of kids and the thought of returning to the UK for their education. That would then see as to be too old to really start again here. I live out in the sticks with no decent schools near by. What would yous do ?

    Would worry me.

The English educational system appears to have gone to the dogs.

Unless you've got the where with all to be choosy.

Yep, they have my recommendation as well. I used them when we moved back to Aus three years ago. Excellent service and good rates.

    Thanks all!

We finally decided to go with Crown - they come highly recommended, were competitive on price and very professional in both the initial survey and later follow-up. The final "wrap-up" is cheduled for late next week, once they goods have arrived in Norway sometime in April, I'll let you know how it went.

Several of the top international schools, as well as some of the lower tier ones, have boarding. Regents in Pattaya is one, but you better have lots of money…
