On sale by the slice at the local market this evening; unsure just what it is - MrsP says name translates as a variety of stingray but looks more sharky to me

    EDIT: think we've found it
    Rays that look like sharks
These rays have a body that looks like a shark’s body, but their head is flattened and their paired gills are located on the underside of the head, so their English common names – wedgefish, guitarfish or shovelnose ray, depending on which family they belong to – are apt.

I tried coarse fishing as a youngster when I was still in shorts. No luck.

You are to be praised or trying it later in life and coming on here for advice.

I believe that any kind of fishing is the preserve of more senior gentlemen. It’s a contemplative and escapist activity. If you don’t get hooked and become successful, don’t despair. Fishing could make a philosopher out of you yet.
Philosophy is questions that may never be answered. Religion is answers that may never be questioned.

I've been coarse fishing since I was about 9 and I think Mendy has been tickling trout since a similar age.

In fact, there were still lots of youngsters on the canals and lakes when I was at home doing a bit during the summer.

Admittedly, it also serves as an excuse to drink copious amounts of White Lightning for a 15 year old, but everybody needs a drink now and then.

Lure was used. I always use them when fishing fresh water.
