A friend of a friend died in Thailand without any will.
His wife in Thailand totally oblivious to his two houses and wealth in the UK.
State got the lot, she got nothing.

Such as? I left the UK for a reason. I've no intention of going back. Kids or no kids. If they want to go live there, or anywhere else, is entirely up to them. They have British passports. Up to them really. Get a good education here, providing the child wants to learn, and they can get a decent job. Life is what you make it.
I wonder what she's done to provide for me in case she'll die before me? Will her relis get all the land & assets?
Well, at least I have no debts...
As I have said before, my Dad and I have a bet on who will die first. He's almost got lucky a few times and survived the heart attack and cancer threats so it could be a close call.
Dad, as executor, gets to ensure the wife is looked after for many a year, although she needs very little money to look after herself when in Thailand, There's no fortune, no big money on death, just a steady inflow of a little money to ensure all is okay.
Be interesting to hear from anyone who's been left a legacy by a Thai.
My understanding, I may be wrong....but if your partner goes before you, then you have a year to sell the house coz you carn't own the land.
Unless of course one circumnavigates the damn unsympathetic law.
The main thing that you have to plan is that your Mrs doesn't sell all your toys for the price that you told her you paid for them!
Actually on Chisels say, the old steel seems superior and holds an edge better
