    Who dunnit?

Bank says missing cash used to buy online products

THE bank in northeastern Chaiyaphum province where a Swedish man and his Thai wife suffered the mysterious loss of almost half a million baht from their account says they have found evidence that it was used to buy online products, Sanook.com reported today (Oct 4, 2018).

Mr Tryggve Olsson from Sweden and his Thai wife had asked for justice when they filed a report with Chiyaphum police that over 480,000 baht went missing from their account during August 16 to September 17 this year, with only 680 baht remaining.

The manager of the bank network in Chiyaphum called police in as they checked withdrawals from this account, and it was discovered that the large sum of cash had been used to buy online products.

The Chiyaphum bank is currently liaising with the legal section at the head office in investigating how these payments could have been made, and who ordered the purchase of the online products.

The result of the investigation should be out within one week, and even if the wrongdoer is linked to the bank it confirmed it will take strict legal action regardless of who it may be.

However if it is found that the online purchases were made by hacking into this account then the police will take action in finding the culprit.

Good start, they're investigating; in the old days the first line of defence would be to accuse the victim of complicity, sharing PINs/passwords or otherwise failing to take reasonable steps to protect their money.

I would start by investigating whichever employee/s found a pot of gold last month.

The result of the investigation should be out within one week, and even if the wrongdoer is linked to the bank it confirmed it will take strict legal action regardless of who it may be.

It's only a rich westerner who has buckets more cash anyway

Have they investigated the wife? Has her son got a new bike?

...with the caveat that "as long as whoever it may be is not too high up in status".

But the bank is still liable for the money unless the account holder was negligent and left his password lying around.

Many will claim I have an unjustified phobia but I fear buying anything on line, doing bank transactions on line, having credit cards or anything else which is not a one to one physical transaction.

    ^ legit concerns

been frauded ("attempts" as Chase has top notch security) often enough to cancel and reissue debit card 5 times and CC twice.

5th debit is going on now...spare a tenner?

If you ever go down that route, investigate bank's history of notifications AND cancellations of unwarranted purchases.

I've joined the fingerprint sign in recently w/ triple security checks for purchases at and over 1k usd.

To buy online they'd need the card holders 3 digit security number. Plus I think all sellers will only post goods to the card holders registered address. So the wife must have done it and hid the goodies from the hubby. Case solved. Next.

Maybe the husband just returned from a long break in Swedenistan. Very likely.
She'd be so blinded with the cash that they don't think far enough ahead for the consequences. A Thai trait in many cases.

What next? She'll tell her husband ''It be no ploplem why you call bank make ploplem''

Quick flash of her golden love tunnel later that night and all is forgiven.

I'd expect a post like that from a miserable old devil like you.

You've obviously seen something worth biting in there
