Still enough left for your dinner.
I have always been a lover of dogs but since my Karma died a few years ago I have not looked for another four legged friend. Since arriving back in LOS that problem had been partially solved for me. Mrs cow and family had adopted a pregnant soi dog about 5 years ago who she named Daeng. After helping with the puppies and finding homes for them, Daeng was taken to the vets and neutered or what ever they call it with females. She and another partially blind female soi dog have basically been adopted by our family and were kept well fed with dog food and lived in the front of our house. I had intended to take her to our new house up country when built next year when I finally "retire".
Today I had to bury her. Some lowlife had poisoned her and we were unable to save her. (A longer story).
We had brought her home but she managed to find her way onto the opposite side of the road to what was an empty market place where she died in the night. This morning a woman saw her and knowing she lived with us, let Mrs cow know so we retrieved her body. I grieve for that dog. She wasnt just another soi dog to me. I just hope that in some sort of way she knew someone did care for her and she did not die unloved.
Glad this thread popped up. Maggie made it through the Parvo reaction and is a healthy, out of control, 5.5 month old Labrador. She is going to be a big dog. She is already taller then Annie our Yellow lab and same height as the other 2 dogs.
4 months
5 months after a water hose cool off.
Thanks stumpy but the story had more legs. There was an old lady that had set up a food stall close by on a vacant block that the owner let her use. Being easy to break into but really not much to steal some thieves wanted what little she had. They had tried a few times but were disturbed by Daengs Barking which drove them away. Thay managed to tempt her with poisoned bate and then rob the store. FFS they stole her two gas bottles and a few other items the desparate pricks.
A good few years back I had 2 Cocker Spaniel's poisoned. Nice pleasant dogs that never barked or bothered if anyone came in the garden. Cutting things short. Someone found out that we had a safe in the house. We were in Singapore at the time. Anyways they got the safe, and that's all they took, unfortunately it was empty other than having a few land title papers in side. Safe and papers were found 70k's away so nothing really lost other than the 2 Spaniel's. Twats.
Crazy HC. Like anywhere in the world, I am always thrown back sometimes on what people, in general, are capable of doing to each other or animals.
We keep our dogs kenneled at night but they miss nothing and will bark if anyone comes in the yard or to our gate. We also have a pretty well positioned CCTV set up that both my wife and I have access to on our phones from anywhere so we can look real quick without necessarily getting out of bed if late at night.
Fortunately our older mooban area is primarily long time residents and they have no need to steal from anyone or poison dogs.
Sorry to hear that HC. It happens around here too, for no reason at all so far as I know. Just a twisted mind.
I live in a long lane, about 2km, with a small number of houses dotted along the way. Nearly every house has a dog or more and nearly every house apart from mine and one neighbour allows them to roam free. For the most part the dogs don't bother anyone and they tend not to travel very far from their homes. All of these dogs belong to someone, they have homes and are fed. Twice in the past two years there have been poisonings, not isolated but in both cases a string of homes along the lane lost their dogs. The poisonings were too far apart for them to have been a single target with collateral casualties, it was obvious that someone had been along and simply killed a lot of dogs. There wasn't any follow-up burglary or anything that I heard of and no complaints of dog bites or bad behaviour beforehand, the motivation seems simply to have been to kill people's pets. Tragic and it bothers me to think that there is probably some undiagnosed psychotic about.
My Bruno takes me 1 km north then turns and we go 2kms south and he stops and turns back to go home.
As far as territory he knows it and keeps within the boundary unless I, as the Alpha male, les him cross the boundary.
He is a wonderful friend but scares the shit out of those that are not in the circle.
And as a pitbull owner always be on your guard as they can get nasty in a heartbeat.
Yep, there are occasional strays that pass through, they tend to get chased away quickly. It's different when one of the local bitches comes into heat, suddenly all kinds of large male dogs we've never seen before appear and morph into a kind of unstable team, infighting all the time while working together to face down the local dogs. It can get vicious between the males although none has ever wasted energy going after me.
Mine isn't great at getting up in the morning.
But she does enjoy a cuddle.

That's a very expressive dog, Armstrong.![]()
2nd pic reminds me of Marty Feldman.![]()
Cheers Chitty,
It took him some time to get to its head after first taking its rear legs out.
Not the biggest one he's killed but nearly 2.5 metres long.
Bored with kids art class. Nap time.
