Poor things not been himself recently, so took him to the vets for a full MOT..

£170 for an prostrate examination and some antibiotics that he won't eat.

He had a fit that same night, poor mut drinks water excessively nowadays and sleeps a lot more.

^Such a sweetie. He doesn’t look malnourished. Hopefully just temporarily under the weather.

Giving big dogs like him medicine isn’t hard to do. Open their mouth and cram the pill down their throat! Not as dramatic or traumatic as it sounds.

My dog is getting harder to feed as she gets older. She doesn’t digest food as well as when she was young and was getting ratty looking. A little TLC and a lot of digestive supplementation got her back to normal.

A pill crusher comes in handy.

I mentioned the issue with the American XL Bully next door being in season, and the gathering of dogs opposite their house in anticipation. Recent persistent rains have curtailed that to a certain extent, but one other consequence is that with our two year old male Pit Bull. He's the only animal of the eight in the house who has not been sterilised, and whilst he plays and romps around good naturedly with his 5 year old Pit Bull 'sister', this past week or so there's been a noticeable increase in his enthusiasm. When it gets too much, they're separated to give the female some peace. I'm all for getting him sterilized as well, but M'Sahib won't hear of it, believing that in males it leads to cancer problems later in life (we lost a male GR to cancer when he was 7, about 7 years ago). Any way, 'Blue' having a chill moment this morning.

Only spayed females for me. More placid and less problematic.

Yesterday we said goodbye to my best friend.

9 happy years of love and laughter he brought into our home.

Poor mutt had a brain tumour, was suffering from progressively worsening seizures all week.

Held him in my arms as he was put to sleep.

    Heart broken.

    RIP Top Dog.

^^ Sorry to hear mate and I know it hurts, but you have to think of the wonderful life you gave him.

We lost Dan last year, she lay on my lap as ahe passed and looking back, while it's a painful memory it's also a warming memory as she passed peacefully, surrounded by her family. As did your boy.

I like to think that Dan's passing made room to give Lola the chance of a good life...

    ^^^

Great shame Chitty, though the sense of loss when they pass is inevitable. We have an old rescue dog, must be 15 years old now so likely she won't be around for much longer. 15 years ago, we had a pair of Golden Retrievers, brother and sister, which we got when they were 8 weeks old. When they were around 6 to 9 months old, when walking them around the village, there would be a small terrier type pup join us, every day. It had a home but as with most Thai owned dogs, was allowed to roam free. We actually offered to buy her from the owner, but they declined. About a year later, Jiew (the terrier) was hit by a motorbike, and though not seriously injured, got into the habit of chasing motorbikes whenever she saw one. The owner was going to take her to the local temple until we intervened and took her in.

Looking through old photos, of which we must have hundreds. This is Jiew as of today.

She spends most of her days sleeping under the dining table.

The dogs used to be at the beach every day.

The Retrievers loved playing with children at the beach.

Kiss for M'Sahib from Bof, the male.

    Time to go home.

As soon as M'Sahib put down a yoga mat, the animals would descend on her.

We even had a rescue rabbit for a few years.

Back to the present day, inspite of there being vet beds for every dog, they insist on getting together on one as much as possible.

So so sorry for your loss, Joe! xoxo
I can sort of relate, but I hope you can move on. My best friend lost two of her dogs over the 25 yrs I've known her. I've had to console her and constantly see their ashes which she keeps on her mantle. She got another dog after the first one passed, and now after 6 months hasn't yet gotten another dog, but will soon. I'm sure you will eventually too.

Aw that is so cute! All your dogs are adorable! Great photos! I also love Golden Retrievers, and labs as well. I never had a dog, had a few cats though.

We picked up our pup from Rudi at the Gekko Pub in Chiang Mai almost 10 years ago now. Here she is checking out Teakdoor with me. Have owned a lot of dogs over the years but this is the first one I have let up on the couch!

    Exactly how my dad feels.

To make things worse, when they put our dog down, the first injection didn't work so he had to quickly do it again...through her heart.

Yeah, my dad didn't take that well at all.

Dogs are fucking great. Just a shame more humans aren't as cool as they are.

Dogs are great. Too bad they have such short lives.

I remember my dad standing in the back of the yard digging a hole to bury his dog, tears in his eyes, swearing he will never get another one. He always did. The scene was repeated several times.

It’s hard to live without those adoring souls.

I would love to have another dog but we really don't have the space when we left Lao we left our dog with the Mil as it wasn't practical to bring him. Sadly Mr Yahoo serious passed away last year he was about 14 in human years . Once he went missing and was gone for nearly 6months but a Lao friend saw him on a Facebook page and we got him back. Albeit in rough shape. He was an amazing animal
