Men 60 and over and having children

Every time I see a fellow Westerner, 60 years of age or older, walking with a younger Thai wife and pushing a baby carriage it just makes me sick. What do these people think they are doing. They are too old to be a parent. Someone that old qualifies as a grandparent but not a father. The child is deprived of a father who can properly "play" with them and help the kid to enjoy life. Do they believe they are making themselves younger by procreating?

Maybe they think the children will keep them young?

Sounds a good idea until the children are 10+.

Still if they are financially independent and wifey is happy and keeps sucking?

I know of a 65 year old with a young 3 year old son and that family are doing great with the father involved with every activity.

Having said that the bloke is mega rich and will leave his son a bundle of money.

good job you didn't see my father when he was staying here.

he'd push the chair with my youngest in it down Thong Lor every day with my wife walking along.

Hate filled prick like you might have attacked him for no good reason other than your own stupid assumption.....

In some cases at least the kids will know who their father is...if he sticks around long enough.

I had a vasectomy early in in life as I believed there were too many kids in our world that required some peace , love and understanding.
Then again I didn't want to be running around providing the sperm and then running off to the next bunny always wondering what I might have left behind.

In truth , adoption is a wonderful thing as it truly can be a blessing to all parties.

I made a commitment for better or worse I would be there for them at least until they graduated college if the good lord allowed me to stick around.
Three kids all well adjusted and gainfully employed albeit all are not ready to make any commitment to walk with anyone up to the alter.
Maybe one day but who knows. Essentially it will always be up to them.

We i suppose as long as the guy is around for the first seven years as the Jesuit quote says "Give me a child until he is seven and I will give you the man" then all will be well.

    Not my idea or paradise.

Depends very much on the individuals involved. My twins were born when I was fifty; they're almost 17 now. I was young and fit enough to be able to do everything with them. I was also financially in good shape and semi-retired so I was around when they were growing up. Prior to retirement, about a year after their birth, I worked long hours, was rarely home other than to sleep, and was on the road frequently.

Many young fathers work all the time, or simply aren't around much for a variety of reasons - some just leave. If the father is older, and the kids are loved and cared for, where's the harm?

The above said, I personally think fathering children at 60 or beyond is pushing it. But, that's just my opinion and I'm sure there are those who do it successfully.

    Nail on the head Dave.

As long as the father can provide the child with financial support and initial character grooming he is doing his job as a father.

I know 30 year olds that dont deserve to be fathers due to their total negligence as fathers.

WTF R U onabout ya ageist little wannabee?

Just because a bloke is 60 yoa, doesn't mean sweet diddly squat in the grand scheme of things,...as you may find out if you're privileged enough to make it to that age!

Ye can be 60 yoa chronologically, or biologically.

Some of us are/were 60 yoa chronologically, but 40 yoa or younger biologically.

Ya know what I mean, bruv?

    So, at 70 yoa, fit as a fiddle and more fun than a bag full of snakes or a dead weight 30 yr old couch potato porn watching narcissistic wimp of a young wannabee, I can tell ya;

    U IZ just jealous, mate.

    In my case, not quite.

All my daughter asked was for me not to marry my models,.....and please Dad, I don't wanna know about you and girls younger than me.

    Well..............

    Sorry,....I did,....both........

Why not? I didn't tell her to not marry/date anyone!

But she did and ended up with an equally controlling dickhead, poor kid,...( my daughter I mean,...the dickhead's just that,....a ponce and a psychopath to boot!).

Have you ever tried to adopt PC? I have here in Thailand and it's a fcuking minefield. Easiest option is to have kids yourself using whatever means. I'm coming 64 with 3 kids under 9 having used IVF to have them. So much easier than adoption.

And you wanted kids, not like some others who have them by accident then just don't know what to do.

Kids are a responsibility not to be taken lightly.

Prag, adoption wasn't never a problem in the States.

In addition if you make a life with someone who already has a kid(s) then essentially you are adopting that child (children) in your life and your heart. That is just my opinion.

If a young person calls you Dad before you tuck them under the covers, read them a story and kiss them goodnight...in my POV it's official with or without papers.

I have a brother who has never married and lived long term with a women who had a young daughter from a previous marriage wherein the husband had died. They were family and when that girl got married in her late twenties it was my brother that walked her down the aisle. She always called my brother Dad...and he treated her the same way a father would treat their own prodigy.

Good post PC , That,s just what I have done , I married Jan 6 years ago and she already had a 4 year old Daughter , in every way she's just like my own daughter and calls me Daddy ,and without a doubt is the best mannered and tidiest girl in our village , plus she's just one of 3 kids her age in our village that can swim (like a fish) , Maybe luckily for me my 3 grown up kids who are all older than Jan think the World of both of them .
