    Best way .

Hi ... I want to buy a power tool that i cant find in thailand. Its a power file made by black&decker, There is nothing like it here ,plenty of sanders and such but not what i need. My son can post me one from UK cost about £60 + postage but what happens when it gets here. will there be import duty to pay and if so to who and where. Do i use normal postage ? .I have had a few bits delivered this way with no problems but small packages. This will be a bit bigger than my normal packages but it is a hand tool so not so big. Anyone experienced with this that can advise me would be appreciated ..peteinpatts...

Just get him to post it. On the outside of the package put "gift" and value under 1000 baht. Even if you do get stung with tax all that happens is you get a pink card at your house and you go to the post office depot and pay it there before you get your parcel. Usually there is no tax if youclearly put a value under 1000 baht on the outside.

By the way, how sure are you they are not found here? Have you tried Hardware House? A lot better than the usual suspects and tend to have everything. Worth a quick look if there is one near you.

Otherwise known as a Makita 9mm (3/8) belt sander.

OT there are heaps of these in Thailand but air powered. So replacement belts should be easy.

Better to think inside the pub, than outside the box?

Pay for your son to come over and bring it with him. Tell him it's a holiday. When he gets over tell him you meant a Busmans Holiday and point him in the direction of the job in hand

That is indeed what I want but as the job is a one off the price which is over twice the price of B&D (better tool I know) I will get my son to post one thanks for the link. Peteinpatts

Good idea but as he has six kids and would want them with him the expense would cripple me.besides I need something to keep me busy and away from the bar girls. Peteinpatts

Ahh mate - if you are in Pattaya there are two places should try. The Hardware House on Route 7 (about 20km) has three massive double back displays of power tools (I love it) and they will have it there. It's an amazing place, and the check out girls are usually pretty damn hot. I've not been in homepro / homeworks etc ever since I first went in there and well worth a trip any way. Just as easy to nip up there as it is to piss about with the thai postal service. The other place is on route 331, head along 36 from route 7, turn left up 331 and keep going - on the left is a huge new place called MEGA something or other (you can not miss it - massive) and they have a pretty huge array of power tools as well.
