The worlds smallest snake? It's not a baby, it's fully grown and lives in the soil. http://www.thailandsnakes.com/non-ve...not-dangerous/
I remember seeing a couple of these...Thought, they're bloody fast for a worm!
Nearly shat me pants.
Banteng are one of the three species of wild cattle in South East Asia. We saw these grazing in forest clearings in the Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary.
There are said to be between 3000 and 5000 in the wild with domesticated populations in Bali and other places. They have also been introduced into the far north of Australia.
We saw herds of up to 18 in 3 separate places on different days, whether they were the same animals or not there was no way to tell.
Banteng herd bull said to grow up to 800kg.
Disclaimer.
This Bull is in no way responsible for any of the bull shit that appears on this site.
Part of one of the herds.
Only one of the groups we saw had a bull with it the others were all cows and calves. When there is no bull present a lead cow takes over the security duties and looks out for trouble. This is she, she knew something was wrong and as soon as she got a whiff of my scent she led the herd into the forest.
Just got back from 3 weeks in the western forest complex the last 2 at the Huai Kha Khaeng Wildlife Sanctuary.
Was lucky enough to get a photo through the undergrowth of this shy rarely seen deer the Indian Muntjac (Muntiacus Muntjac curvostylis) or Barking Deer.
They do indeed bark like a dog when disturbed or scared.
Love those forests.
Indo-chinese Ground Squirrel. These little animals are widespread throughout the country.

Pose nicely for a photo....Thank you very much.
White phase of the Variable Squirrel at Nam Tok Sam Lan National Park.
Doing my garden inspection at a new condo I am working at today I found that one of the palm trees had totally lost its crown.
I called the gardening team and they were delighted to find....
Adult Red Palm Weevil and larvae.
Digging around in the fronds and bark led to a bucketful of cocoons and much merriment at this unexpected protein bonus.
Rangers found this tortoise, an endangered species, which would be around half grown at one of the ranger stations in the north of Thap Lan National Park.
Himalayan Striped Squirrel, one of the smallest Squirrels in Thailand.
Great thread!
Taken in the U.k today, never seen this before or the colours on the bottom ladybird.
^ Nice image. Where was this taken?
^Should have given me a shout...I live near there!
Caught in the open, a Sun Bear Kaeng Krachan National Park.
This Bear raided our camp on two nights the first night it took an old army mess tin that had some left over rice in it, this is what the tin looked like after the bear had extracted the last grain of rice :
The second night I stuck my head out of the tent when I heard a noise and shone the torch on the bear which was about 3 meters away. I can tell you they look very big at close range with only a flimsy tent wall between them and you.
These are said to be the smallest bear in the world but still stand about a meter at the shoulder when on all fours. However should you piss them off they are capable of tearing a person apart as easily as this one did the mess tin .
Another Squirrel
Found this baby field mouse in the garden today, it's now called Mini and has moved in..
Look what the dog found at the end of our garden, just sat there not moving with the odd chirp...
