    Upcountry Medical Clinics

Going to have to change my mind about those clinics I see sometimes. The wife and I were having lunch next to one which is always crowded with hill tribers. She'd been complaining about an itchy for a few days and the drops we had bought were not cutting it. Decided to walk over to the clinic and see what it might be like. Five minute wait and we were talking to a doc who seemed pretty darn experienced. He prescribes an antibiotic, eye drops, and some allergy pills and off we go after paying the fee. 150 baht for the medicine AND talking to the doc and total time spent... about 15 minutes. Try doing that in west........

    Same same.
I went to a GP clinic in Bkk yesterday for what I thought was conjunctivitis.
straight in, 15 min medicine (drops, cream, 2 types of pills, 400 baht. so about 12 bucks.

Those clinics aren't bad if you catch them on a slow day and your medical problem is a small one.

I use one sometimes, too. It's nearby. Beats driving into the city.

Catching them on a slow day is key like you say. Usually the place seems pretty jammed up but today it was empty. Luck of the draw I guess. I am still impressed with the value of service. My wife pointed out it was the same cost as two beers, and I told her there are bars in Chiang Mai that are charging almost that much for a single bottle of Leo. Come to think of it, that place we had the TD meet up has raised its prices to that level.

If it hasn't gone up lately, the doctor fee is only 40 baht. The rest is pharmacy goods.
