    Advanced reading materials

Anyone know of any other advanced - level Thai reading books, other than the one by Benajawan Poomsan Becker? Furthermore, why can't I obtain Dr Pepper in LOS?

Sriwilai Ponmanee - 45 Thai Stories - ISBN 974-657-536-8 - This has short stories and questions - There are others by the same author

I also recommend trying books in Thai aimed at Thais. Obviously choose the level that is right for you.

Cheers Danielbo but I've read some of Miss Ponmanee's other books and the translations are often awful and incorrect so I'll give that a miss. Maybe I'll read Tittyporn Ginhaimot's masterpiece "The ring came off my pudding can".

ChiangMai University produces some advanced reading stuff.
I will try and dig the titles up for you. (probably not till Wednesday when I'm back at work)

It's a very good series of books in general.

Could you dig up my time capsule while you're there?

I'm moving to C.M in 2016, if the world still exists.

That's what I do danbo, although since I don't know what Thai books are goos, I get foreign books that have been translated into Thai - Harry Potter, Kafka, etc... . Normally helps if you've read the book before or at least know the story, watched the film.

I've seen it at Rim Ping for 80 baht per can....

Why not just buy soda water and add some prune juice?

Kinokuniya has the following book on its shelves:

Thai Cultural Reader Book 1 Robert B. Jones, Ruchira C. Mendiones & Craig J. Reynolds

    It's around 1,200 baht.

It was published back in '70s and some of the material is out-of-date but it's still a useful way of improving your reading.

Try picking up the Thai Rat or other newspapers - these are advanced reading - Beckers book is advanced for beginners.

Reading newspapers is very benificial for learning everyday slang. It is very hard going to start with, even if you have a sound background, but worth the effort.
