Can anybody read Thai ? GoW ?

GoW or anybody who can read Thai,

Can you check out this school link and tell me if you think this is a good school ? And if it isn't too much trouble ... what does it cost to send an 8 year old there ? And anything you might find interesting to know about the school in the link.

    http://www.phichitinter.com

Thanks in advance for any help.

    SK

GoW won't be online until this evening at the earliest, but I'm sure she will help you if no one else gets there first.

She might even know someone connected with the school seeing as she's from those parts.

My Thai is far from perfect, but I think that it says that the rate is 5000 baht per semester for Prathom students, including 500 for compter lessons and 500 for swimming lessons.

The school is about 4 years old, it sits on 8 rai (about 3 acres) of land and it is a Suksa - that is, it's students go from Anuban (Pre-school) to Matthayom 3 (9th grade).

There are 674 students - 216 in the Anuban (preschool and Kindergarden) 302 in Prathom (Grades 1-6) and 156 in Matthayom.

If I'm reading the site correctly, thay have about 50 teachers - or about one teacher for every 12 students. With that ratio, the class sizes should be no more than 20 students per class.

I am having my kids read it now and shall post back soon mate. I am trying to have my kids read it. It hasnt loaded in 5 minutes now.

If you sign up for all the classes including swimming it looks like 4959 baht per term. You need 6 one inch pictures as well. This would be for grades 1-6.

Thats all my kids can tell me now, and they are going to their "kim" lesson so maybe more tonight.

There's 674 students with teachers and staffs 50 people, 8 maids, 1 janitor and 1 security guard.

They don't mention about how much you have to pay for your kid to study there but you can contact them via this e-mail : kanatip20@hotmail.com or Tel. 056 - 613381 ext. 11 , 056 652337 Fax. 056 - 616175

I'm sorry that I can't help you much, I have never ever heard the name of this school before but I left there since I was 18.

PS : This is a logo of this school.

I read the web site and believe that qwerty and aging one where correct. The enrollment is 2230, Misc. 1729, Computer 500 and Swimming 500. That make a total of 4959 Baht.

I found some things that you may want to know. The school promotes EQ, IQ and MQ (Emotional, Intelligence and Manners Quotient). They promote a good parent - school relationship and provide a secure environment in and out of the classroom.

Beside the six 1 inch photos, they want copies of:
    Student birth certificate
House registration to including mother and father and student
Parent People Card (It doesn't say, but I think Passport and Visa for Farang)

Just in case you want to know about the dress code:

^ Got to run to work now, but happy I can help.

I forgot to mention the curriculum (sp?) for Prathom is: Math, Thai and English, with English by a Farang teacher.

There's an English guy lives next door to my dad's house also. Not sure if he's an English teacher but noone there never ever talk to him because he seems to be a quiet guy. He built a high wall and put black glasses around his house so.. we don't really know what he does.

His wife told people there she didn't teach him to speak Thai because when she talked about him, he will not know anything.

Such a good wife she is.

I seem to have the exact opposite problem ... I haven't started to learn Thai yet but my Thai family is always on me to get my butt in gear. My excuse is that I want to wait till I can start from ground zero and immerse myself. By the way, there is a UK guy who runs an English school in Phichit as well. I ssee this Phichit school and the guy's school always looking for TEFLers about every 6-12 months.

I've met a few people like that GoW. A lot of it is a control thing I feel, especialy out in "the sticks" if a falang can't speak thai he's totaly dependent on his wife for everything.
It's supprising how you get used to being able to talk to each other in "private" by switching languages. Me and the wife often switch to thai or english depending on the company if we need to say something to each other, rarely talking about the other person though....It's a real pain when your with others that can speak both languges as well
I have more than the average number of arm and legs

I also see a lot of that type of relationships. I really think you need to know the local language if you want to survive in the Country. Depending on someone else is not too smart. Do not forget that people could be taken advantage of everyday, even the locals. Knowing the local language makes it more difficult to be conned. Being real, I think you can not totally believe in anyone but yourself, even your spouse!

Well, my wife is there in Phichit now putting an addition on our house and she went and checked out this school I asked you guys about. She seems to be happy with it. I wanted to know where these kids go after the 9th grade and she found out that most of them go to some school called Assumption something in Bangkok.

The only problem I'm going to have with my daughter going to this school (Phichit Inter) is that I'm going to have to drive her there and pick her up everyday. I suppose it's about 50 kilometer round trip.

I also found out why I haven't seen any TEFLer jobs adverts at this school anymore over on ajarn ... they used to always say they didn't want Filipinos on the job ads but I guess that's what they have now. Guess i won't be able to get a TEFLer job as I had hoped up there.

Things are coming together slowly but surely it seems. Except I'm stuck here now babysitting my daughter in Japan so that she doesn't miss any school.

Surly they will have a bus from somewhere, if your going to do that every day, stick an other 4-6,000 bhat on your budget for fuel (assuming 100 km a day)

I'm quite sure that they have at least 1 school bus. My causin lives only 2.5 km from her school, noone bother to bring or pick her up because of a school bus, easy..
