The second part of the sentence is not a literal translation but that is the meaning of the writer. ( Thais have their own ways of saying things

Fhai(her name) tired. Similar to saying 'I am tired', but puts her name first.

Google Translates for Thai to English is about as worthless as tits on a bull when it comes to translating sentences from Thai to anything which resembles coherent English...

Its value lies in "stand alone" words not in sentences. It has no predictive ability built in, so does not recognize compound words (two individual Thai words placed next to one another which changes the meaning to something entirely new). It also cannot recognize "chat-speak-thai", or Thai that is purposely misspelled by the writer to be more "in trend" or to better impart emotional value to what's being said. Seeing as a LOT of the "translation requested" threads on every forum about Thailand are facebook or chat rips, very few translation programs can make heads or tails from it.

I had high hopes for Google early on because of the "suggest a better translation" feature, but obviously no one is participating or it'd have been "self correcting" and gotten better over time.

Even BING translates ain't all that good. You can use thai-language dot com's dictionary and their bulk translation feature, or thai2english but they're still pretty far off the mark sometimes.

I'd suggest learning to read Thai, but that will be shouted down by the "nay-sayers", as too difficult to do. Dunno about you, but my observation is these people don't appear to be the sharpest tools in the proverbial shed, so if they can learn to read Thai, I'd imagine that anyone who really put their mind to it can do it too.

The O/P posted a super simple sentence which people parsed to death, often with funny answers. As I said, separating the words yields better results in Google.

Pretty broad brush sweeping statement there "poorfalang". Is it a slow day up there in 101 (ร้อยเอ็ด) watchin' rice grow?

Care to elaborate just what of the 22 preceding posts are wrong?

Is it that Google translates doesn't suck?
Maybe it's that Thai is too hard for foreigners to learn to read.
Perhaps it's that the person "ฝ้าย" doesn't want to be with whoever they wrote that to and they're not even tired either.

I mean come on, I thought people did a pretty good job of it tryin' to figure out the few random Thai sentences asked about.

The Thai language relies heavily on context in conversations. Having someone paste up a couple sentences without any background story between the poster and the intended recipient is a tough row to hoe at the best of times. I thought the answers were pretty darned close to the implied and intended meaning.

Even I can't figure out what you're on about; unless you're tryin' to drive up your post count with random condemnation of other posters... Ease up some on the Lao Khao (เหล้าขาว) and the Yaa Dong (ยาดอง)
