The Lao National Museum and the Lao National Culture hall are near enough opposite each other on Thanon Samsenthai, the culture hall is a massive place that the Chinese gave to the Lao people, no idea why as it must have cost a fortune, they hold events like Lao dancing there although it is probably easier to see that sort of stuff in any of the higher end Thai Issarn restaurants in Bangkok or Pattaya.

Loads of different nationalities flags outside.

The national museum is an old French building built in 1925, probably pretty good if your interested in culture, archaeology, history and politics.
The museum is open daily from 8:00-12:00; 1:00-4:00 and closed on holidays.
