There's at least one noted Mod (western female) over on TV with quite the reputation which she doesn't deny!

It does exist, but at least in Thailand it's still a small minority. In some african and caribean countries it's huge. Male prostitution is getting bigger everywhere, as there are more rich, independant and lonely business women in both western countries and Asia. It's not that uncommon, by the way, that 30+ Thai businesswomen "pay" young backpackers for sex, mostly indirectly by taking them out to a fancy dinner, but sometimes just hard cash.. A mate in his late 20ies has taken up on that offer, don't remember how much he got. The kids jumping on his bed the next morning pissed him off a bit tho..
If you go to Africa, you'll often see 50 year old women with barely 18 kenyan boys, it's the same all over the world, in my humble opinion the difference between the sexes isn't that huge when their behaviour, upbringing and socialisation is pretty much the same.

But you see factual evidence really is against you, just read up on the sources I provided, some women there name the going price per hour or per night, local authorities and hotel owners have identified it a big problem a long time ago and their excuses, manners, motivations are pretty much an exact copy of their male counterparts. And both western men and women, unlike Asians, like to pretend that the prostitutes they bought are also a bit their partner, and sometimes delude themselves to a point where they marry them.
And there are also all shades of grey in these business transactions, from cash per hour shags to longer relationships with occasional gifts and support for the family.

Enough of it, every halfwit should know by now that it exists, and has existed for centuries. In the past they were slaves for pleasure, held by the aristocracy in almost any society, nowadays it's a business transaction.
