but he is safe, i was already on my way to work, I've left him with maid, driver and girlfriend to look after him, I think he is planning some sleep and then sightseeing!

actually flood waters have all disappeared now, everything back to normal.

the rain was only in Jakarta and not the surrounding hills, which spared us all the run off that caused the major floods last time.

perhaps next week i'll be swimming again.

Ya know, there is something sort of Harry Potterish about him. I never figured it out until just now.

Had a look on Wayback machine for the front page of TD on 2/2/2007. Sure enough the floods in Jakarta were the top story .

She must have thought you were nice as well. Saying someone sounds like Harry Potter is certainly not something implying dislike. Everyone loves Harry!

as I mentioned on the other thread there's prolly not much to report on anyway

it consists of arriving about 17 hours late, paying too much for a taxi, sleeping most the of the day, going to the pub to watch Wales beat england and then sulking for the rest of the time as a result before goign back to the airport.

A lot easier too - It doesn't require mucking about with images. I'll do it later.

    wow! wot an expert!

Jakarta must improve drainage system: Expert JAKARTA (JP): Jakarta would be able to sustain many hours of local rain if it had a proper drainage network, a planning expert said Friday.
Basah Hernowo, the director of forestry and water resource conservation at the National Development Planning Board (Bappenas), said floods that inundated the capital Friday were a direct result of the city's clogged drainage system.
"On Friday, Jakarta only experienced local rain and the rainwater could have receded quickly if it was channeled properly. The floods indicate that parts of the city's micro drainage system is blocked and some canals are not functioning properly," Basah told The Jakarta Post on Friday.
"We were flooded even though it was only local rain. What if it was combined with floods from Bogor and Puncak? I'm afraid the city's drainage system won't be able to channel rainwater quickly enough," Basah said.
On Friday, parts of Jakarta became flooded when heavy rain that started Thursday night continued Friday morning.
Basah said Jakarta had become more vulnerable to flooding as it could not handle downpours that lasted more than 12 hours. (tif/**)
