If you are interested in watching an informative video here is one on sugar. This comes from the University of California. It basically states that fructose is a poison as much as alcohol is. It's about 1 1/2 hours long and a bit technical at times.

Naw, I ain't into movies, but without sugar/fructose you sure wouldn't get any alcohol.Originally Posted by Friedclams

I've heard breathing the car fumes and CO2 is poison. I'll never go out of home anymore.

It sounds like bullshit. The headline says sugar and it seems to be about fructose which is something entirely different.
There are lots of foods like yoghurt who now contain fructose instead of sugar because it sounds like fruit, all so natural. It is also twice as sweet as sugar. I have also seen a few reports that fructose is not so good and causes digestive problems for many but not for everybody.

I do like honey in small doses for breakfast but using it to replace sugar is just hilarious.
So is corn syrup good now?
what about
Cyclamate
Saccharin
Aspartame
Sucralose
Lead acetate
Are these better than sugar?
I just watched it up to 45 minutes.
If you want to break it up to watch it, do so. I watched up to 20 minutes and then later reloaded it and watched it up to 45.
Very informative video.
I bet it is -- those kind of posts and videos must be like 'honey' to all the conspiracy nuts out there.
As someone else pointed out - the white, processed sugar type is 'bad' for you. Cane Sugar, and other non processed, extracted sugars are fine (in small quantities), as the sugar is an essential component in the production of Adenosine triphosphate -- without it, you die.
This isn't to say that you need to eat gobs of sugar, or add sugar to everything you eat (like Thais do). Plenty of regular foods already contain sugars that your body uses -- such as starches, pasta, and the old favorite, alcohol.
Most of these 'video studies' can be broken down to "Look at me, I'm important" (basically, imagine Scampy, with an education)
Could you expand a bit? Do you mean brown sugar by that? Brown sugar is not the least bit better than white. It adds a little flavor and colour.Originally Posted by DaffyDuck
I agree 100% with the (in small quantities).
The single biggest problem with our food today is the "too much". Anything else including the processed food/pesticides comes in a distant second.
If I had meant 'brown sugar' I would have written 'brown sugar' (which is processed sugar with cane flavor and coloring added.
I clearly wrote 'Cane Sugar', made from sugar cane, which is not processed sugar. I really couldn't have been any more clear, I think.
Cane sugar is sucrose which has been extracted from sugarcane, a tropical plant which produces naturally high concentrations of this sweet substance.
Sorry I don't have the slightest idea what you mean. I am not aware of any such thing.Originally Posted by DaffyDuck
Most of the sugar sold worldwide is exactly that. Sugar extracted from sugar cane. Most of it processed until it is completely separated from all the other components, that is the white sugar. For the brown sugar the extraction process is not completed. In Europe some sugar is extracted from locally grown Sugar Beet but the endproduct is the same, sucrose.
Is the 'Cane Sugar' something taken out of the extraction and cleaning process on another stage of the process? Is it some kind of Syrup?
This is a serious question, not something to attack or provoke you.
What would be the difference between that purifying process you refer to as processing and the extraction process you mention?
Your statement show that you didn't watch the video.
The doctor is referring to HFCs - High Fructose Corn Syrup.
Other doctors wrote books about this in the 1970s.
This doctor in the video did his own, and also scrutinzed many methods of research, and analysis.
Again, they author is talking about HFCs.As someone else pointed out - the white, processed sugar type is 'bad' for you. Cane Sugar, and other non processed, extracted sugars are fine (in small quantities), as the sugar is an essential component in the production of Adenosine triphosphate -- without it, you die.
I didn't get this from the video. Most of these 'video studies' can be broken down to "Look at me, I'm important" (basically, imagine Scampy, with an education)
He is interested in the topic. Why go to the lengths to study this and follow up on research, and cite sources and previous doctors?
No offense Daffy, but you response (again) shows you didn't watch the video, and you are applying too much cynicism in this case.
............
Here is a any good investigative documentary:
If alcohol is poison I just returned with a slight case of poisoning!
Must've been 30 years ago I first heard the 'sugar's a poison' story.
Been using it at since along with most other people and still here.
The latest one is wheat's going to kill you. Bread made of wheat has been a staple of mankinds diet since the birth of civilization.

It's processed sugar (fructose)
