come on DrA that's gotta be nonsense.

the Thai locals only eat in 'restaurants' because their low income 'rooms' don't have cooking facilities and it's cheaper for them to eat out even if they did.

Plus, more importantly the food at these cheap Thai places is just a mixture of rotten meat , dogs' inards and foul smelling vegetable matter.

Actually, CE, I've never seen a country with so many empty or nearly empty restaurants as Thailand...

DrA's statement was a little daft - come on Dr A back to the fore! (or it will be your special nickname for you.... )

I met a guy from Hull the other day in Pattaya - just started talking to him whilst sitting on a step.

He was saying that it must be great to be a Thai because everything is so cheap and they were as rich as any Westerner - it came as a BIG surprise to the dumb fucker that the minimum wage here is 25B an hour........ so err.. like things aren't that cheap for them really....

I mean why do you think it's always them serving the foreigner?

I'm not sure if the OP is true or not - if I took a random sample of 10 friends from home (OK all my friends) then I think 4 or 5 of them smoke, if I took another sample of 6 western friends (again, all of them) from Thailand, 3 of them smoke.

Not sure if this is typical, but I've never noticed more smokers in Thailand than back in the UK, but then again I spend less (zero) time in bars here.

Yes, I think sex is a lousy substitute for cigarettes.

Cigarettes are prettier, for a start.
