    Blood database

    Yesterday late evening I took an unusual route to home cos of bloody traffic jam. I took the backstreets to avoid traffic congestion. It was dark and the streets were quite narrow with only a few motorbikes passing by. I saw a person lying on the pedstrian. At first I thought maybe its a begger or scavenger taking a nap after a hard day work. As soon as I got closer I realised its a whole different story. Actually it was hit and run case. The guy, a foreigner, was unconcious and bleeding intensely and needed immediate medical attention. Took the guy to the nearest hospital I knew. The doctors asked for some dosh in deposit and later on took him for treatment.

    After ten minutes the nurse ran to me and asked if know someone who can give blood (o +). I ran straight to their blood bank just to get disappointed. They were out of stock. I had no other option but to donate myself.

    This morning I called the hospital to find out how's he doing. They told me he's fine. They also told me that I can take my deposit back as he's having AIA's valid insurance.

    Now my point .....

    Any of us can be in need of blood someday. If we have a database in here (TD), it would be much easier to find blood whenever needed.

    Any thoughts?

    Nice work Macha.
    You've pobably found yourself a place in heaven now if God can forgive you for being Muslim, that is!

    If you want to start up a database, go ahead young man. How you do it is up to you I suppose.
    Considering most of TV's members are tourists or sexpats I doubt whether it's up to date so a TD blood database might not be a bad idea and it's not really that much hard work.

    You can put me down as O+ (I think)

    How do I find out my blood type? I can't find a label or any mention of it in my instruction manual.

    You can get it typed at any hospital. It is a good idea to know your blood group and have a card from a hospital which documents it.

    You are probably O pos Squirrell.

    MrsQ is a bloody Indian (NA) and a teenage woman. The only blood group for her would be Rhesus nutter

    Bloody hell its me thinking God's Muslim too.

    I can keep the TD blood bank database updated but there's one problem with that. To have a valid and complete database, the useres need to give their phone numbers which I think most users are reluctant to provide.

    How we go about it and should the name and contact numbers be placed publicly?

    Hang on Macha's an Indian too!

    And he said he was O+.

    I have no problem giving a phone number on the proviso that no-one ever calls me!
    How's that sound?

    Thats another thing I forgot to mention, very nice work Macha.

    I'd be happy to be put in the database, I used to donate blood back in the UK and miss donating really. I'm the most common blood type 0+ and I'd be willing to hand over my telephone number if this was to help someone out. But I think e-mail address would be more suited to members then again it isn't really a great way of getting in contact with someone in a hurry.

    And DrAndy there is nothing wrong with teenage women so please dont mistake us for being related to Mrs Q!

    And DrAndy there is nothing wrong with teenage women so please dont mistake us for being related to Mrs Q!

    I'm Pakistani, not Indian.

    I think, initially, we should get these info:

    * Donar's name
    * Address
    * City
    * Contact number
    * Timings (for eg. 10am - 7pm)
    * E-mail address

    More features such as links to blood banks around LOS can be added later.

    I have no idea what my blood type is. It is red though - does that help?

    Being a blood donar I do have some knowledge about it. I can later add "Basic facts about blood, blood compatibility, and examples of blood use.

    *Marmite it does help as long as its red as you claim*

    The last time I had a dona it was horrible, like a suppurating elephants leg

    maybe donors' name would be better?

    Macha, more than blood type, a relevant question would be the alcohol average content of many a poster here...don't get me wrong, we'll take the hi octane ones too, and sell it to the PTT and donate to poolie's ww sex life fund
