@switch - out of topic, but do you have health insurance in Bali? Is it required for your type of visa?

Also, as I remember you were living in a shared villa with a pool & were the "caretaker" of it. Did you transfer to another apt? (can't remember) If you did, how are you liking it? (just curious, lol)

There's much to be said for daily cycling + herbal tea.

No. B st time to take BP is first thing in the morning, just after you wake up, and before you start doing things.

I've been fit all my days. I played rugby at various levels and I've always worked physically hard. I took up cycling in Thailand about 15 yeas ago. I still cycle now, doing 20 km every other day, weather permitting. So I assume my diet is my problem. Coming to 72 year old now and I think it's a bit late to change my eating habits.

^I concur. From your past pics, I thought you were late 50s to early 60s.

My BIL had a minor stroke at 50. My dad had a major stroke at 58. Both didn't smoke or drink but had poor eating habits (fatty, salty, sugary). My dad had a history of drinking but at the time of his stroke, he had been teetotal for several years. He was overweight, lacked exercise and had stress at that time. He passed away at 71.5 years young.

I think even Davis Knowlton had a stroke and he's a relatively healthy & active guy.

I wish everyone the best re: their health & fitness goals.

And if a smart watch will help you monitor health, then I'm all for it. Cheers!

Sorry to hear that about Davis. He's a top lad.

My Ol' Dear had a stroke at 60. She had separated from the Ol' Fella due to his favourite life-long hobby of impregnating as many women as possible, had sold the house we all grew up in, was going out the door for the last time, reached up to turn off the electric fuse box and collapsed. I think there was 5 years of medication such as blood thinners etc, but could be wrong. As she says she's very lucky that there were no long lasting effects. You see some poor old folk that have lost the use of one side of their body.

^AFAIK, David had the stroke many years ago, when he was in his 60s. He has recovered, is healthy and now in his 70s.

My dad didn't fully recover from his stroke. His left side was affected. His left arm wasn't fully functional and he walked with a limp. He had to use a cane for his remaining years. He was considered as a PWD (person with disability) afterwards. He was able to live 13.5 yrs post-stroke, so that was a blessing.

I see many ppl in PH who have 1 side of their bodies affected by stroke. Most walk with a limp. For some (or most) ppl, they weren't able to recover because they couldn't afford the cost of physical therapy. One hour of PT costs more than the minimum wage of a day laborer.

My family was able to afford PT for my dad because during that time, the PT clinic offered an option to become a member/ stockholder. One had to deposit/ invest P15,000. Then one could get PT sessions for P20 only.

For the first 3 or 4 months post-stroke, the PT sessions were everyday, so if one pays full price, the cost adds up.

    Health is wealth!

    Amen to dat sista.

On a slightly related note, Edith just bought one of those side-stepper things for indoor cardio during the hot season. A welcome wee addition to the daily fitness regime. Reckon I'll have buns that could crush a smartwatch by month's end.

Watch your salt intake, Prag. That stuff can make your blood pressure sky high when you don’t pay attention.

Yeah so I'm told. My mother was a salt addict but lived well into her 80's.

I wouldn't worry too much about the salt. Has the neighbour removed their landfill off your land and off your wall already Prags.

There are more serious issues than diet and lifestyle issues that can cause high blood pressure. Hopefully your doctor has eliminated those or at least explored them.

Nah not yet. Their priority has to be the dwellings before the rains stop work. How do I get my pics to show upright?

I presume that this is your neighbour's plot.

And that this is your plot.

The first thing I would be doing is putting down sticks at the boundary connected by string/wire.

Getting some exercise by lifting up refreshing honey lemon sodas while 200 baht a day local lads shovel all the Earth from your side of the boundary onto the pickup truck of anyone that wants free soil wouldn't hurt too.

If the first pic is of the neighbour's plot, what is the distance from your wall to the boundary?
