Healthier New Year 2024 for All!!

This thread is a branch off on all the talk about losing weight and getting healthier be it by getting stronger, eating better, drinking less, you can join in on the thread on tips or things that are working for you this new year to achieve your goals. You can post food, weight loss amounts, exercise or tips or fellow posters. Post your goals. Keep it on topic folks. It seems from what I know from some people on here people want to get healthier or lose weight this year.

I'll start it off with my dinner tonight. I am starting a low carb, medium protein, no sugar lifestyle and trying to lose weight and inches and lower cholesterol and BP. My life depends on it I think. I also suffer from GERD which I want to get rid of.

Anyone can join, and post, but not to denigrate in a mean way. Those people will be ignored flat out.

I stayed on track with my calories and am starving, so here is tonight's dinner. I weigh in once a week and do my measurements once every few months. Only healthy stuff on this thread folks! We got this! Anyone else on the losing weight or health bandwagon?

    Or consider…..

Contrave, Saxenda, Orlistat, Phentermine, Semaglutide, Alli, Setmelanotide, Wegovy or IMCIVREE

    ^Bellend alert!

    Happy New year MM!

I don't have any New Years resolutions or goals apart from going on holiday somewhere warm.
However, you have inspired me to hit a healthy weight with a healthy diet.

    So I am in!
Shall post up pics of my healthy Concoctions over the year.

    CHEERS FOR THE INSPIRATION.
    Shalom

    ^^Love the quote, landreth.
^Thanks, Joe, hitting a healthy weight is a good goal for sure.

I'll check in soon. I am going swimming tomorrow. Do you do any exercise in the winter, Joe? Obviously you cycle in the summer.

Healthy food doesn't mean weight loss.

Cutting out one food group, two food groups, three food groups doesn't mean weight loss.

Burning more calories than you take in means weight loss.

3000 calories of salad and salmon while using 2000 calories = weight gain.

2000 calories of ice cream and doughnuts while using 3000 calories = weight loss.

^Yeah, that is obvious, but I am doing it the healthy way, and I am not counting calories. In 2014, I did this way of eating and lost 60 pounds, since gained it back however. Everyone is different Edmond, what works for you may not work for someone else. I told you I am cutting out sugar and that is how I do it. I used to binge very badly, and so staying away is the best way for me in regards to sugar. I want to eat healthy and not just count calories.

Either way, good luck, hopefully you'll do things correctly this time. :-)

^Can you not understand what I am saying? I understand what you say, but I don't want to eat the bad food even if it is in my allotted calories, that is my choice. I was trying to make a positive thread here.

People do other diets to lose weight and yes most drop their calories, that is what im doing, im just cutting out sugar and unhealthy carbs, nothing wrong with that.. not sure why you are acting like that.

I have not failed, i have lost weight and regained it due to overeatng, binging, menopause (read up on it). So, wanting to lose weight and get healthy is a good thing.

Wanting something but not actually doing it is not a ‘good’ thing. Blaming external factors such as menopause does not help.

People gain weight over time with age, menopause (low estrogen) and other factors like stress, overeating, other unhealthy food choices, at least I am honest about what.

I know there are many obese men on this forum, and some people don't want to change or care, so be a bit nicer to people that may want to change or learn a thing or two. This thread was for others to bring up their goals and what they are doing to be more healthy not to jump on me.

    Right.

    Good luck.

Weighed in at 79.4kg this morning. Heading out for a 40km cycle now. Gym in the afternoon with a protein shake after.

Will look at perhaps being a steady 78kg for songkran, and maybe down to a steady 77kg later in the year. No real fuss. Am 5'10+ (despite what Chico claims) and 77-78kg looks and feels good.

And thank goodness you did. Teakdoor was surely lacking in threads to lose weight department. Essentially you are just too kind and thoughtful, MM.

Here s a thank you medal.

Regaining 60 pounds in 9 years isn't too bad, as I am over 50 now. Obviously, I've been on a yo yo ride, but I love myself no matter, just want to get healthier as said in the opening.

Not everyone has your life and had time to exercise as much as you, or wants to. But, good you work on your goals.. it isn't a competition.

    Thought for the day..

    Thought for today
Bob Marley was once asked if there was a perfect woman. He replies :
    Who cares about perfection?
Even the moon is not perfect, it is full of craters.
The sea is incredibly beautiful, but salty and dark in the depths.
The sky is always infinite, but often cloudy.
So, everything that is beautiful isn't perfect, it's special.
Therefore, every woman can be special to someone.
Stop being "perfect", but try to be free and live, doing what you love, not wanting to impress others!

    They tend to be intermittent.

Which is of course just a totally wank way of talking about what time you eat.

Pretty sure I'll never be any kind of thread, myself.

If you could get used to how td is rather than what you want it to be then surely you'd get by a lot better.

There are after all a thousand and more places on the internet to get this 'Ra! Ra! Go for the burn!' shit.

It must just be because you want to make a huge deal (yet again) of putting people on your 'ignore' list.

Cool story, bro. Here’s a Bruce Lee one.

Bruce Lee's father asks him to go to America so that he can have a successful life. So, he begins as a dish-washer but due to the strength of his character and morals, he gets better opportunities.

Good luck on your health goals, MM! (and everyond else) I also gained weight over the holidays (~2 kg) but have lost some of it. I've cut back on what I ate and increased exercise (walking and/ or zumba at home). Sometimes it's hard to be motivated to exercise. And yes, our weights fluctuate, our bodies change and age. For women, there's menopause; for guys there's andropause.

We all have different body structure, metabolic rates, etc. I wish everyone well in their health journey.
