Well MM, one thing that a great majority dismiss in general is mental state of mind. Stress is probably the #1 killer. Many want too much due to this and want comfort food to feel better.

As has been said before, life is about balance. Healthy happy home life, enjoy careers, eat smaller portions, avoid financial debt, stay physically active but doesn't need to be excessive etc. While some can argue consumption of alcohol is a negative, it can also provide benefits in moderation. Also have to keep in mind family genes. Some are prone to issues regardless what they do.

    40.5km cycling in 1 hr 43 mins.

    Water + protein

Apparently the one scoop is 30g of protein which is apparently equiv to one chicken breast. Don't quote me on that.

Nice hydration plus getting the protein to the leg muscles after 100+ minutes of pumpy pumpy.

Went down while cooking lovely salty fatty bacon, with tomato slices and egg done in the delicious bacon fat.

Moderate portion size, part of a healthy balanced non-restrictive diet.

Well, so we've been told for decades, but current research is pretty consistent - alcohol is only detrimental to health.

    Sorry.

No worries. Again alcohol impacts everyone differently. All depends on moderation. Drinking a bottle of booze every day isn't good for you but a few during a day is no issue, but again depends on the individual clearly. Some can't drink at all.

Let's keep in mind that the medical community say don't eat red meat, don't eat eggs, don't drink caffeine, don't eat real butter, don't eat white bread, don't eat shrimp or crab.

It will always be about moderation.

    Sorry.

Judging by your posting, I concur.

You need to drink those cans of Cheers beer in moderation Ciz.

No level of alcohol consumption is safe for our health

OK, so as often happens, google throws up a bunch of differing stuff.

However some sources look about as reliable as chitty's findings in 'Metro', while most look like, well, the link above.

Alcohol is classified as a Group One Carcinogen.

Agreed Cyrille, you can find anything on Google that will support your POV. I can find numerous medical reports that 2 beers a day offer many benefits. Then you can find one that says any alcohol is bad for you. Same goes for virtually everything on this planet. They say being on a computer all day has significant mental side effects

I guess in the big picture, you need to be self aware and know your body and the impact anything is having on it. I stopped motorcycle racing as it was destroying my body. So one really needs to know themselves. The only thing I believe is really awful for you is smoking. Albeit I know guys that smoke like a chimney and are still living great and no issues and I have known a few that smoked a few cigs a week and they died of lung cancer.

It's really the same with weight loss programs. They work for a small few but the majority they don't and people quit. I knew this one office admin that went full on vegan. After about 5 years she died of various organ failures. During that time we all watched her look sick in color and lose weight but But she believed being a vegan was healthier.

While the world seems to be getting almost as dumb as Joe90, the weight of scientific study is clearly getting it right much more often these days than ever before.

Your examples of studies in nutrition not being 100% correct are all 20 to 100 years old, jp.

Met Edith at the Muay Thai gym and had a great afternoon sesh.

She went to pick up the princess and I came home to wolf down an organic chicken breast pan fried with curry powder S+P, green leaves sprayed with EEVO, S+P. and a portion of rice.

Was delicious, and a bit bigger than I was expecting. Bet you've said that in your time, MM.

Will probably go for an evening stroll around the park with a protein shake, E+E will probably go zumba dancing there, then back to the villa for a nice BBQ.

All in all a pretty healthy day and lifestyle I think. Here's to another 40 years of it.

Well no argument from me on people getting dumber. There is a lot of information out there. I read quite a bit and one thing for sure, you have to have a very good filter or you will swallow lots of Kool-Aid.

All good and enjoyed the banter Cy before old Mao jumped in with fried food pics. OMG. Fried food. Cancer in a pan.

I was talking about weight, as that's the only thing I happen to measure/notice, first thing in the morning after a morning wazz.

A better indicator would probably be body fat%

My weighing scales, less than 1k baht at, yup, decathlon measures body fat % along with muscle mass, body water, and I dunno, something density and few other things by electrical impulses going up through your feet. How correct it is, I have absolutely no idea. I haven't done any of those in a few years as it involves standing on it for around 30 seconds and I'm a busy busy man.

If you seriously need to lower BP and cholesterol, getting a decent gadget that will measure those well.

...this...however (and obviously), weight loss is not the only factor leading to good health...other factors may be found on countless threads here or...a simple google search. Individual situations will vary, of course, but smoking and drinking fatties tend to lead the way to crematoria...oops! Cocktail hour!...

I think I may have politely mentioned the same, something like you don't see many overweight beer drinking 75 year olds playing with their grandkids, and was chastised over it. Tiz a cwazy world we live in folks.

I got an air fryer and am enjoying healthier eating during the week and also saving money by not ordering Grab most nights. As for the gym- I try to get here 4 times a week for 45 mins of cardio and 30 mins of lifting very unimpressive amounts of weights lol. Knocked out a few half marathons last year, so guess I am doing okay.

Weekends are for chilling poolside- I feel pretty drained come Friday evening- while this current teaching job is probably the most rewarding, it's also probably the most exhausting. A good sleep protocol is the bedrock of a healthy life imo

There's doubtless something to this, but I get better and better at sleeping the closer I get to pegging out.

So there are limits, is all I'm saying.

We all have different body structure, metabolic rates, etc. I wish everyone well in their health journey.
Thanks Katie, HNY!! Zumba is a great workout! I agree motivation can sometimes be hard, especially in the winter!!! Good stuff taking some off and yes our bodies change for sure. With age our metabolism slows down as we lose muscle mass that is why I always tell myself to keep doing weights and exercising into old age it is a necessity.

Awesome, Mandy! I also love my air fryer!! Great stuff on the marathons and exercising! Sleep is very important for sure! Getting a good amount is so important for us even for keeping weight off I was reading

My friend who I talk to daily and compare notes with on weight loss, was weighing in once a day, but I switched him over to once a week, because our weight fluctuates so much. It can be discouraging weighing once a day ime. I prefer once a week to see results and yes I agree, I have one of those RENPHO scales that takes into account body fat, water weight etc, BMI etc, and like it. I also bought a BP machine. I got all de gadgets. Also at my gym they have a DEXA scan, which I do once a year.
