Well MM, one thing that a great majority dismiss in general is mental state of mind. Stress is probably the #1 killer. Many want too much due to this and want comfort food to feel better.
As has been said before, life is about balance. Healthy happy home life, enjoy careers, eat smaller portions, avoid financial debt, stay physically active but doesn't need to be excessive etc. While some can argue consumption of alcohol is a negative, it can also provide benefits in moderation. Also have to keep in mind family genes. Some are prone to issues regardless what they do.
