Yeah, that's a very good effort, Cujo.
A couple of years ago I went up to 94kgs due to drinking and eating and no exercise - spent about 4 months to get down to 80kgs which is a bout right for me. Today, I'm up to 87kgs, but I'll spend the next 2 months, or so, getting back down to 89kgs and try to stay there. It's obviously a lifestyle thing... eat well, exercise and don't drink too much.
Cycling should be banned!!!

I went up to 82Kg when I got membership of the Diamond tier at the Hyatt in 2015 and was scoffing my pie-hole with top scran to the point of needing a wheelchair to get back to my room each night.
I then got down as low as 70Kg when I lost my appetite for a while.
Now back to a more regular 76Kg

weight loss is allabout diet.
Exercise can also effect weight loss to some extent but only prolonged exercise.
The time it takes to work off the calories from sugary snacks means it is much simpler to just not eat the sugary snacks if weight loss is your goal.
When I was cycling 4 hours a day for 2 months on a long distance tour I lost weight.
But put it back on as soon as I stopped the tour.
Good luck, stay with it and thanks for the inspiration, I'm thinking to start a healthier regime, nothing serious, c3km daily walk should blow out some cobwebs, will be amazed if I break 5.

Its either the Cujo way or the hedonist. After a two week de-tox up in the hills, I’ve lost weight, but i do miss the food and the beer.
Always stayed reasonably fit and kept the weight under control with regular exercise. At 65, the joints are beyond repair so I stick to swimming cycling and gym work.
I have to ask the question, what’s the point at my age? I used to be able to eat and drink what I liked, and burn it off with hard work, but why should we bother, when you can just say fuck it? Eat and drink what you want, and enjoy it while it lasts?
Alternative lifestyle, here I come.

Oh and by the way smeg, (I know you're watching) I DO know a thing or two about dieting, unlike yourself.
Long story short, the body converts carb's into sugar which it uses as energy. The excess is stored as fat.
If there aren't enough carbs to supply the bodies energy requirements the body will use the stored energy (fat).
So cut out the carb's and for extra results increase the energy output.
Ditch the sugary softdrinks, cakes etc and beer.
Drink whiskey and coke zero instead.
Low carb sweeteners are xylitol and Stevia
(and aspartame if that's all you can find.)

^ you're right, carbs with no exercise is a disaster. You can eat carbs, but only if you're gonna exercise pretty hard to get rid of it.
I meant, to get down to 80kgs (or 79kgs)... I'm terribly with typing errors...
I find that I don't much like exercise, so I find what's right for me and that's a bit of home exercise (maybe 100 crunches, and 100 of a few different dumb bell exercises for my arms and chest. Then, I walk, you're not burning any calories for the first 20 minutes, so you gotta walk quite a lot. I do research at cafes, so I walk to one that's about an hour from me, do an hour or two of work then walk home briskly.
Doing that 5 days a week then resting for a day and maybe eating hamburgers and drinking beer once a week works for me; I lose about 2kgs a week, but every 2 or 3 weeks I take a week off and maybe gain a kg or 2, then get back on it for 2 or 3 more weeks. That way, for me, I find I can consistently get to where I wanna go and manage the weight once there. Your body is smart and is always looking for shortcuts, so you've gotta mix things up a little to keep your body guessing...
Actually that's a fallacy about not burning calories for the first 20 minutes. Youu are burning calories with any energy expended. Even while you sleep.
I would suggest for those who find it too hot or inconvenient to excercise to get a stationary excercise bike and put it in an Aircon Room in front of the TV.
They're surprisingly affordable.

I use endomondo, an app recommended by a member of TD, I forget who.
Probably not as good as a dedicated cycling computer but it gives me enough stats and verbally updates me every kilometre and even gives me a map of where I've been.
And it's free.
And I can use it for running or walking.
Well, I'm in a state of shock now. Just weighed myself and 108kg and that's a light as I can go - even took my glasses off. I'm 6 ft.
I've kind of taken it for granted that my knees will hurt going upstairs and if I drop change I no longer bend down for anything less than a 10 Baht coin. It's years since I washed below the knees in the shower and thankfully I rarely wear socks as to put them on or take them off is a major operation that requires planning. Clearly something has to change.
On Tuesday I fly to Bergen for four weeks offshore and this seems like a good time to make a clean break. Enforced abstinence from alcohol, a regular routine and with some effort and will power it's relatively easy to eat healthily. There are meals every six hours, so one before shift, one mid-way and one after shift. My plan is to avoid the mess room after shift as its very easy to go in for a snack at the end of shift and then over eat, just before bed. Eating through boredom is the big temptation, even with Norwegian food. There is a good gym on this boat, so I will spend an hour exercising before each shift. I usually do a fast walk on the treadmill, set with a slight incline as I'm carrying too much weight to jog. I usually lose around 4kg during my 4 weeks offshore, but with more effort and by sticking to certain goals I see no reason why 6 to 8kg isn't possible. That will be down to me.
My big problem is after the 4 weeks offshore. I have two completely different lives. After the disruption of travelling home, usually involving a stop over in Bangkok for a couple of days, I return back to the heat of Isaan and it all falls apart. My exercise is usually limited to walking the dogs, which is maybe around 2km, but not fast due to four dogs and intense heat. I'm fairly active and do a lot of stuff in the garden but it's not like proper exercise. I have no excuse either, we have a 12m x 6m pool, so perfectly acceptable for doing lengths. Occasionally I start doing lengths every morning, but usually it stops after a week or so.
My diet isn't too bad, usually porridge/cereal and fruit for breakfast, small lunch... and then it all falls apart. After a play in the pool with my young daughter, I always sit down with the dogs late afternoon and have a couple of beers, or whiskies, etc and I find this habit extremely difficult to break. I've tried having a cup of tea, iced water etc but its just not the same. This has always been my time, and in the absence of a local bar for an early evening beer I sit in the garden and do it. I guess I will have to replace this time with something else. Maybe an evening swim, maybe even get myself a treadmill. One thing is clear, I have to change something and get out of this rut.
Also, I find that after my couple of beers I tend to eat much less healthily than first planned, so it's a double blow. I'm used to loading the plate with veg and minimal carbs, but the beer tends to sap my will power and it's all to easy to chuck a handful of chips in the oven. I'll even end up making a dessert for my daughter, and then having one myself. Hot doughnuts, ice cream with chocolate sauce is unfortunately one of her favourites...

As are softdrinks by the way, and go easy on the fruit. Very high in sugar.
Regarding your breakfast, it's very high carb.
I'd have a couple of eggs instead.
Whatever you do don't eat pasta or potatoes or rice in the evening, if at all.
Like I said, for drinks, coke zero and whiskey, not beer.
Stick to it particularly the hour a day excercise and you'll quickly see results.
The feeling of effortlessly bouncing up from the couch or bending down or standing on one foot to put a sock on, stuff previously taken for granted, is awesome.
Also did I mention that once the fat suit is gone you walk rather than waddle, and your face reappears.

Maybe I'm talking about reducing the sort of fat that hangs around my waist. Maybe not true for everyone, but if I go for a brisk 20+ minute walk before I do heavy exercise (gym bike, weights, running machine, etc) then my exercise effort is much more effective.
It might be that the extra 20 minutes up front just adds to the total 'work' effort, but it makes a dramatic improvement for me if I do a hilly walk for 25 minutes on the way to the gym then do 1 hour on the bike/running machine than if I just get a bus or car to the gym and do the same exercise effort.
Also, I know a lady who won an Olympic bronze medal after having two children, she lost a lot of weight to get back into shape, is an expert at training, etc, and she always said that changing your exercise/work effort is very important - i.e. don't run/cycling at a consistent level, but rather put the machine on a random setting or varied incline setting, change your training regime regularly, etc. Now, folks might find that different things work for them, and if it works for you then it's good, imho...
