    Hysterectomy in Thailand

Took the missus the hospital the other week after she complained about a lump and pain in her groin. I thought she had a hernia or had found my watch but it turns out its a tumour(fibroid?) the size of a lime as the doctor smilingly showed me with his finger and thumb and then went on to draw all the internal parts he needs to chop out.

Anyway i thought i'd do a thread in case anyone else has to go through it.

We went to 3 hospitals, Pattaya Memorial, Queen Sirikit and weve decided from a Dirty Dog thread that Samitivej Sri Racha which he reckoned was half the price of the main Pattaya ones is the place.

There were two prices offered here 95,000 which involves knives and quite a long recovery time and 160,000. 160,000 gets it done less intrusively they say, although going through the vagina with a laser with her legs in the air seems a lot more intrusive to me, although that will get her back on her feet sooner to repay my dough
That was the same price by the way as Pattaya Memorial wanted, although I'm not sure which type of hysterectomy that was for, after walking out in horror.
As for Queen Sirikit Hospital, I dont really know what happened there, the missus reckons the administrator told her its a volunteer hospital for those on social security

Sat here now waiting for the operation, feel free to add with your own experiences

You get quite a big room with balcony and a sea view

Mate, our FIRM experience with medical stuff in Thailand is to ...

Choose the Doctor and not the Hospital.

Let me ask the Boss and I'll report back.

Standard position in Pattaya so naturally seen as being unobtrusive.

Mate. They reckon if it's got tits or wheels you'll have trouble with it. Just joking. Hope she has a speedy recovery

A hysterectomy hurts like hell. She will need someone to help her out at home a few days because she will be able to do absolutely nothing. Dill, if you aren’t up to it, find Sister or Mom or BF to stay with her.

Wishing Mrs. Dill a speedy recovery.

    Seconded, Dilly.
Not a pleasant experience for a woman to go through - physically and psychologically.

Best to the missus and yourself.

If it's good enough for Bond, it's good enough for Mrs Dilly.

    All the best.

Crikey, Dill....I hope it's only a partial hysterectomy. Presumably it is, since they're going through her vagina with a laser.

My wife has a fibroid and they're very common. But hers is not as big as a lime. Best wishes.

    How is she handling it?

Going under the knife in any circumstance can be a frightening experience. Wishing the best, god speed for her recovery.

September 2016. Hers was almost 3 kilos. Out of the hospital (Khon Kaen Ram) in 4 days.

Had to be careful about lifting things for 6 months after the operation. She was doing a European trip within a month after the operation.

She didn’t want to miss the trip so when she found out she checked into the hospital the next day. She wanted to heal a bit before the journey.

Good luck to your wife. Hope everything goes as smoothly for your wife as it did for whatshername.

Phew.. just rang the hospital, apparently It all went well, shes in observation for another hour now.

Ive been a nervous wreck for the last few hours, everything was going through my mind, about everything that goes wrong in this country and the Thais. Was thinking about the surgeon too(cheers David48, surgeon not the hospital) and how he couldnt speak any English and i should have gine to Bangkok.

She had an irregular heartbeat that we were called back for the other day too but was assured its fine now.

Well id better get sone flowers and a chicken soup basket and head up there now.

    Cheers again xx

Wishing the missus a quick recovery. Take care of her. Get her lot's of help to speed her healing. If her ovaries were removed prepare your self for months of mood swings.

    Enjoy. Welcome to the club.
