    Dermatologist Recommendations BKK or PTY

    I've got some more stuff growing on me (I'm hoping Keratosis) that my guy in Phnom Penh missed last visit and he's the best in CMB. I'm flying over to BKK to try somebody else this time. I'l be visiting friends in PTY form a couple days so that's an option as well. This will be out of pocket since I've got a big deductible. Any help will be greatly appreciated. I tried the search function, but I didn't get much.

    I have a skin condition which I've had for more than six years. Been to various specialists costing a lot of money. 2 weeks ago my skin was covered in rashes again and can only be described as a 1000 mosquito bites at once which last between 1 and 4 hours before it eases off. I get it every year.

    However, a friend recommended a doctor at Rama Hospital Premium Clinic on Rama 6 road. 24 hours later I have gone from this!

    To this.

    My back was the worst, but it has all cleared up.

    I've spent a shit load at various skin clinics. I spent about 600baht at this hospital.

    Thank you both. The post wasn't very fruitful so I went over to Thai Visa & a guy at St Louis looks like the ticket. If I can just get the f*ckers to answer their e-mails maybe I can get an appt.

    All the skin problems Ive had here have been down to dodgy soap supplied to hotels and serviced apts.
    A change to dove pure cleared up the itchy rash in a day/

    I've got sun damaged skin. A lot of it could go cancerous and some has already. It just wasn't malignant.

    OK. Just back from my dermatologist. Could not remember her name before, so did not add, but needed a skin lesion checked into, so dug up the information.

    I go to Mission Hospital in Bangkok on Pitsanuloke Road. Pretty easy to get to.

    I have seen the same person for three different skin complaints, she sorts them out right proper. This time is was a pre-malignant skin lesion - lasered off.

    In, treated and out in under 30 minutes. No prior appointment, just checked that the Doc I wanted was on (she works some days/times only).This place is the bees knees. Fast, efficient and generally a fairly pleasant experience.

    Cost? 3,000 baht.

    Anyway, the doc is Sontharee Imamnuaysup. Efficient rather than warm, but that's really what you want. English speaking.

    Yesterday I fronted up at Bangkok Christian Hospital to get a skin complaint looked at. It was around 4 weeks old starting to get bigger.

    I've had a rash thingo about the size of a 10 baht coin hanging around on my back. Not painful but a tad itchy at times. Could not get rid of it.

    Anyway I figured its time to go see the Doctor so front up to BC which is my regular, I am registered there so just walk in, see Reception and get sorted.

    So I see the front office girl, tell her my problem and immediately I am escorted through to the other building and up to the skin clinic. No waiting at all.

    10 minutes later I'm looking at the doctor, he sends me off for a scrapping and diagnosis from Pathology.

    At the same time I need a Medical certificate because I want to use the pool at lumpini and at my Condo. Must obtain a medical Certificate for this.

    Whilst I'm waiting for the results of the skin test another Doctor does a medical for me.

    300 Baht.

    After that we go down stairs to the restaurant for lunch. Handbag gets a phone call saying the results are in so off we go back to see the skin specialist.

    Doctor says no big deal, prescribes a cream and a course of tablets.

    All up I'm in and out in one and a half hours.

    Back in Perth it would be two days just to get the results back from Pathology and three separate trips to the Doctor, Pathology and Chemist and then a great wedge of cash for the trouble.

    Total cost at BC.

    Drugs = 400

    Pathology = 300

    Hospital levy = 120

    Doctor = 600

    Total = 1420

    Amazing Thailand innit, done and dusted in 1.5 hours for piss all plus the medical certificate at 300 Baht.

    I might go swimming today.
