Learning how to run properly is key and can be done inside or out. If you just want to skip all the research and learn through trial and error, start at like 8 k. You should eventually or very soon notice that you're not breathing hard at all. If you're not breathing hard, I don't think you could be paranoid at the same time. Then up the speed 5 k and repeat. Maybe that would work for you. But I'd also read this article about technique:

Well, let's have your thoughts on running technique then. I've said enough about it.

This is the wrong thread for that, wjb, but my comment was that the article is shit (poorly written) and not on running technique per se. (Read my words, man.)

And I must have missed your comments on running technique (unless you think posting a link to an article is the same as writing your own comments on the topic).

Just had a look at my health app on my iPhone

    I've walked 211 steps today

My record this year is 13,118 steps

The lowest is 28 steps, that would have followed a heavy night

^ Top work, Dill. Does the app differentiate between steps and staggers?

No, but I can work out the days on when the staggers are on there

I met this Thai guy in a bar on Ftiday, a marathon runner, he looks about 29 years old but is older than me at 50. He's in great shape and puts me to shame.
He beat me at pool and called me a mother fucker. He's quite a funny guy.

I drunkenly promised him I'd meet him at the park at 5 am. He rang me Sunday morning 4 am, I was still in the bar

He rang me again this morning at 4.30 but nowadays it takes me a couple of days to get over a sesh.

It's quite impressive your runs Nev and Slapper.

I'm gonna go start running with him soon, well running and walking and running and walking.

See you guys at next years 3/5 marathon where you will see me race past the little guy while calling his mom a ho

3/5 marathon? Is that one where the race marshal falls asleep accidentally pointing a stick in the wrong direction?

wjb, there's a thread on running if you want to go into more detail about that article or running technique.

Thanks, Nervana, I never knew about that thread. I'd like other folks opinions so I'll be checking it out but I'm the last person someone ought to give much credence to when it comes to running technique. I've strained, pulled and bruised every muscle and bone there is on my legs and feet so it comes down to this for me: trial and error. I do like to keep my workout posts in one or two threads, if possible, also. This one is my fav:
    https://teakdoor.com/health-fitness-a...ut-thread.html

Good run for you today. I did some weight lifting prior to my run indoors so that's my excuse for 5 km in 30 minutes today.

10km in a little under 50 minutes. I'm starting to feel a bit more fluid in my running.

If you'd like to run over the long term best to keep off concrete no matter how it affects your time or speed, if you want to protect your knees and hips. Another way to do that is by lifting weights to strengthen the muscles around the knees and hips.

Steady 25 miles on the bike. Air delightfully still, just over 1000 feet of elevation.

A cool down is essential after every intense workout, man.

Keep checking those balls. U remember Lance Armstrong don't you? That was a big wake-up call for me. You'll never know what you might discover.

When I heard about his operation and the symptoms of testicular cancer, I discovered I had a hydroceles. What a relief when x-rays revealed it wasn't testicular cancer. I might never have noticed if it I hadn't heard a piece on PBS about his condition and what the symptoms are.

Really impressed to see this thread still going and that some of you are running, biking, and doing stuff around the house.

I haven't been doing much the past month or so. Just came back from a two week vacation in Thailand where I didn't do much. Readyto kick it into high gear starting tomorrow. Biking and weights is on the agenda. Got a great tan, new style and wanting to shed a few pounds.

    Keep on keeping on..

    New year, new slate.
