Had a Sunday morning "heart-starter" shag today....they're always good value, aerobically.

10k yesterday, but alas, I shall also be resting today after having drunk, literally, all the fucking Birra Morreti in Wetherspoons last night.
10k in 58 mins today. My bestest time ever.
Can you swim Slap?
I'd love to grease you up for the channel.
You da man, da Iron man, that's it.......... Eureka...... you need to do a Triathlon, that's gotta be on your radar now.
Maybe i can get some lard on the cheap from Nige
I can doggy paddle, very badly. Hate swimming. Someone else can do that leg for me.Originally Posted by Dillinger

Put most of the winter clothing in storage and packed T shirts, shorts, flip flops and 1 waterproof top.
Sold half the house contents to a mate who has just split, with his Mrs and the other half to incoming tenants. She is Malaysian and he is an ex rig worker.
Knackered and opened the brandy.

Today, went to the gym and started out with body-weight exercises (chin ups, ab crunches). Then lifted weights, doing exercises targeting the back and arm muscles. Finished up by running for an hour on the treadmill (10k).
Lots a runners here, eh? I bless my knee joints every day of my life. Been running (mostly inside) since 1998, even though I have severe osteoarthritis. But my knee joints have held up excellently ever since (I also trek and climb in Nepal twice a year and have never had a problem with them (had a split tooth once). It's my favorite cardio exercise, mainly because it can't be beat for helping control my weight, although I was perfectly happy with elliptical machines for 6+ years as well. I'm sure the day will come when I have to go back to those. Looking forward to it!
^ Cool runnings.
Got my 10k down to 56mins. Aiming for sub 50 before new year.
^ Thanks, I was fairly happy with it but I'm still struggling a bit for fitness. The cooler weather should help a bit but more sleep and less food will also help.
Two minutes off your best 10k time in only 2 weeks is good news for you. Keep it up, Slap. A sub 50 for 10k before New Year for me would please me, too.
This morning I ran about 60m...
...etres. Quick warm up before gym.
Outside?? Good on 'ya!!!Originally Posted by somtamslap

Today ran 10k, indoors, in an hour exactly.
I don't stress on a faster run but do stress on not running often enough. That means, in my perfect world, 5 or 6 runs per week, along with 3 or 4 weight lifting workouts. I was laid low by diarrhea and today was my first run in a week. I'm pretty pleased because I think exercise is like that proverbial snowball: momentum is key. It's hard to get started and the longer you wait, the harder it is to get started. Similarly, once you get going, the easier it is to keep going.
Had a couple of cigarettes today...
^ not a habit yet then, eh?
Three mile walk from Bayswater home to King's Cross office and three miles back. Same every working week for nine years.
Congrats. That equals my all-time best (indoors) and I believe that was 10 years ago.Originally Posted by Neverna
