Oh yeah, a good 8hrs a nights sleep helps a hell of a lot, great for repairing muscles and keeping trim. Not getting enough sleep is no benefit at all, being knackered doesn't burn weight off as some will claim, it actually has an opposite effect
Many of the fighters at the gym would have their 7am-9am training, porridge & scrambled eggs (or similar) then go back to bed for 3-4 hrs

Given that the average male should consume 2500 calories per day, that's a loss.
Another successful day.
Breakfast - Porridge with raisins, honey and a banana, cup of tea no sugar (I'm off sugar and butter)
Lunch - can of red salmon, tomatoes and cucumber and a kiwi fruit
Dinner - (should be the biggest meal of the day, at least 4hrs before bedtime. Carbs are fine for the main meal, extra protein is good though. I'm eating an extra fish with my seafood krappow & rice, tonight I got 370g of beef meatballs and pasta, couple of oranges for afters
If you get munchies later, rice cakes are good, zero fat and good for curing those hunger pangs you can get when cutting carbs
Bananas are great for snacking, they replace the potassium you can sweat out with exercise, quick burst of energy (that's why you see many tennis players eating them during their short breaks)
This has gotta be the healthiest Thai discussion forum
Calorie counting is what my Mom (God bless her soul) u sed to think was what dieting is all about. Wrong: if you want to maintain a healthy lifestyle and maintain your weight, exercise is just as important as food (I didn't say as important as nutrition: I mean "quantity"). So, if you don't want to exercise hard (as opposed to a walk for an hour every day, they you definitely need to count your calories so you're eating no more than you're eating. But this kind of routine will only truly maintain your current weight. To lose weight, the math is simple: burn more calories than you eat. For example, fast walk, jog or run a 10k but eat no more than you did the day before. You should lose weight.
“The Master said, At fifty, I knew what were the biddings of Heaven. At sixty, I heard them with docile ear. At seventy, I could follow the dictates of my own heart; for what I desired no longer overstepped the boundaries of right.”
Did squats today... I just know I'll be sore/walking funny tomorrow...
*I don't think dill and ice will venture into this thread.. so I should be ok...
nah.. let me re-phrase that... I will have sore legs from doing squats today, as I haven't done squats for ages...
I donated my kick-bag to the gym inside the aquatic center (West Wave) but they took it down for a swimming event about 3 months ago.. haven't put it back up (bastards)... so I've just been using my spin-bike at home and doing shadow boxing..
Weights just once a week... bench presses and lat-pulldowns/bent rows... I figure I get enough lower body workout doing plastering...
I got in from my 4 mile power walk an hour ago. It's a tolerable 6 degrees but it only takes about 10mins to warm up. I also had my heavy backpack on so my upper back and neck muscles get a workout.
I've got it down to 35mins. I usually listen to the same collection of songs so I can gauge how much quicker I'm getting. Today Rod Stewart's 'Downtown train' played as I neared home. A few weeks back it was playing as I had a mile to go.
It's a nice quiet walk, love it, as good as jogging. People drop dead of heart attacks jogging. Fast walking is more natrual, striding along with my arms swinging along.
This means a good 7-8hrs sleep later

I don't measure calories, as I don't have a calorie counter, but my last meal at night is quite large, and compared to what I've eaten all day, it pretty much qualifies as one meal a day
^ That's what I am trying to do (just 1 meal a day)... you starve yourself all day then can eat whatever you like in the evening (not too late)...
It probably should be the other way around (eat heaps in the morning) and starve the rest of the day.. but whatever... we shall see...
I think it's called "The Warrior diet"... hmm sounds cool anyway...
Boxers making weight eat pretty much zero carbs all day while training but their evening meal is always the biggest of the day, at least 4hrs before bed. Baked potato, sweet potato or rice. Wholewheat pasta has double fibre and is seen as a 'good' carb. Takes a while to get used to the taste though!
Wheat is also pretty bad for losing weight. Those who eat shitloads of bread can get what's called a ''wheat belly'' and I'm not talking about those dieting, I mean everyone generally.
They even say to try for just 50g carbs per day. I snack on oranges/kiwis/bananas all day, I suppose my porridge is carbs but thats good carbs and fibre.
I also speed walk 4 miles a day, rain or shine. Usually around 9pm. Takes me about 1hr 5mins. Its enjoyable and I don't care about my jeans getting wet or even my hair. Jeans and hair can be dried, jeans can be changed.
Obviously I'm wearing a decent jacket. Today the wind and rain was strong and I had my usual baseball cap on, which kept blowing off despite my large headphones, so I wore the cap back to front, for the classic 'homie' look
It is easy to lose heart when you don't see results after a week, and many just give up. Those are idiots, it takes at least 3wks to see things starting to show, and its good for motivation. It takes about a week to get used to a new diet anyway

I haven't had breakfast since I was a kid... so skipping lunch as well, wasn't too much of a hardship... but, I definitely prefer a diet of twats over Dilldoe's main staple... c to the o to the c to the k....Originally Posted by somtamslap

Measure your heart beat when you wake for your lowest reading, then measure again during the day then during exercise.
80/120 is average.
My heart rate first thing is mid 70's unless the missus is riding on my trampoline
Average normal HR is about 100.
During exercise it averages 125, sometimes i've taken it up to 165!
Is that with 2 on the trampoline?Originally Posted by Chittychangchang
Yes, resting heart rate is the best indicator of general cardio-vascular fitness..
Mine is just under 60 BPM. (so I'm almost dead).. used to be much lower when I was young and much fitter.
Sexercise is the best exercise hehe..
I did some cycling today instead of running. 10.75 miles/17.2km in 45 minutes. Not a great distance but it worked up some sweat and it made for a nice a change.
