only one problem with loosing all the weight ive lost
all the nice shorts and tshirts ive collected over the last few years, now are way too big for me, have had quite few retailored to fit, cheaper than buying a whole new load of them
You can eat as much you want as long as you burn more calories than you consume. I run 10 kilometers a day - 5 days a week. That is more than a marathon a week. Doing this combined with 45 minutes on the rowing machine and another 45 minutes on either the elliptical machine or stationary bike is causing me to shed the fat at a remarkable pace. Following the he primal "diet" (not a weight loss term) daily along with an hour of weight training and the few hours of cardio has changed me in ways at my age I never thought possible. 2012 may see me in the best shape of my life and I want to encourage all of you to get healthy. "We all get fat", "My metabolism is low", "I do not have the time to work out" and all the other excuses or just lies we tell ourselves. I lied to myself for nearly 10 years, all the while packing on the pounds.
^ got to get that motivation ingrained then its pretty simple to stick to
^ I am to the point, that if I miss a day, I am beside myself. I take the weekend off and actually sit around thinking about popping into the gym for an extra workout.

Diet - I am on a diet.
Diet. I follow a strict, healthy diet.
Pretty simple.

In a nutshell, it really is that simple.Originally Posted by chitown
Motivation is the key, and that motivation comes from getting on the bathroom scales and seeing the weight drop.
^ I agree. Most of the stuff in the diet/health industry is bollocks. I like Michael Pollan's advice - 'Eat food, not too much, mainly plants'. That's it. And by food he means anything your grandparents would have recognised, so no cheese strings or coco pops.
i was like that when i was dropping the weight off, now ive kind of got the right balance, if i dont make it to the pool for the day, im probably out doing something else which will involve lots of walking so i use the calories up anyway. once you got to the point where you can keep it in check like that its much easier.Originally Posted by chitown
lots of salads, here its not too difficult to find them as you know
oh and stay away from those buffet things,if you do go, just eat sensibly, and get some pineapple in you about an hour before, works a treat on the stomach acids apparently, i dont eat so much and get bloated.

What is an ideal weight ? I'm currently losing weight, but according to those weight charts I'd look anorexic if I achieve their target figures.
You calculate your BMI by dividing your weight (in kilos) by the square of your height in metres. If the resulting number is over 30, you're officially a fat bastard; it should be between 18 and 25, though the bands shift upwards a bit as you get older and it's different for Asians and muscle marys.
My BMI works out at 28.6. But according to weight charts I still need to lose minimum 10 kilo's. Who's right ?
^ On the BMI scale, 28.6 qualifies as overweight (over 25 is overweight & over 30 is obese) so perhaps you should drop a bit.
The BMI calculator tells me I need to drop down to 77kg's to at least reach 25. That's wayyyy too thin for me. 80kg's would be as low as I could go.
The Timesonline, looked at over 500 different types of exercise programmes and could not find any that induced weight-loss, in fact the opposite was true, as many showed a weight gain. They then put two groups on a reduced diet, one exercised/one no exercise. The group that did not exercise lost the most weight. They also found in a study that women marathon runners built up a layer of fat around their torso. Exercise generally builds muscle, which has a greater density and therefore weighs more. Diet is the only means of losing weight and regular meals are the key, as after 4/5 hours the body goes into starvation mode and starts storing fat.
We are a complex machine and exercise = weight loss is a myth.
I've lost 14KG's over the last 2 months.
Started off at 117 now down to 103 or there abouts.
I'm 188cm and it would appear I have the metabolism of a middle aged black woman.
Loving seeing the weight fall off and getting back into pairs of jeans that i couldn't do the buttons up on earlier this year.

Thank you.
I needed to do something about it. Mid 30's and all that.
