Good work I suppose if you can get it although quite how being bearded by a callow oik indulging in pointless and redundant conversation added value was beyond me.
The Black Swan is in my view the only bar in Sukhumvit that actually approximates to a proper pub. The landlord, Dave, is invariably present and conducts himself professionally in that he understands the value of welcoming new patrons and actually talking to them as if they mattered. Naturally, any pub will form its own cliques but the role of a good landlord is to cater to them all equally, providing a sociable environment in which interaction can take place. The Black Swan succeeds in this but current exchange rates and the reduction in passing tourist trade must be a worry for any farang bar.
Been to the Black Swan a few times but never had the pleasure of meeting or talking to Dave. Twice or so I saw the same guy sitting at the bar and typing away on his laptop - presume it was Dave, but he never greeted or spoke to any of the customers.
I quite liked Billy although I agree that he should have been a bit more present at times.
Never noticed thatQuote:

I would imagine we have shared a few beers at Ray and Noks old bar and even older bar over the years.
As for Smug Farang Bore think i tripped over him once in the soi,he was laying face down in a puddle,it had been raining so i turned him skyward as he was drinking far to much water.
