I bought a couple of dining vouchers for Serenade from a promotional website.
Their validity expired this week and a few days before I called the restaurant and asked if I could extend them by 4 days so I could take the opportunity to dine there on my girlfriend's birthday.
The lady I spoke to said she would need to speak to the manager and a day later I received a call from someone else saying it would not be possible.
When I expressed my surprise she said she would also get back to me but by the next day I heard nothing further.
Although I appreciate under the terms and conditions the vouchers had an expiration date I thought asking to extend them by a short period in order to take the opportunity to celebrate someone's birthday would not be too much of an ask. After all they had been fully paid for and whether used one day or 4 days later did not seem too problematic to me.
Oh well, due to their 'inflexibility' in customer service/relations I have missed the chance to try one of Timber's steaks
It seems the reason for offering promotional vouchers in the first place has had the opposite effect on me!
Business is business and you have to abide by the rules as clearly stated on the voucher as does the proprietor.Originally Posted by ossies
Your bad luck will only continue as you will also miss out on a great dining experience.
had the pleasure to make timbas aquaintance a few weeks ago one saturday afternoon at serenade, he laid on some cold meats, salami, bread and cheese, had afew beers and he plied us we wine the bugger top bloke timba, great to meet you,and a very nice place for an evening out i would say
ketamine-only fools and horses
LT, always healthy for people to have differing views on a certain set of circumstances.
BTW, what info do you have to confirm that the proprietor has to abide by the rules (validity) of the voucher?
If it is in their contract with the promotional website then it would put a different light on my interpretation of the situation.
^ not speaking for LT here, but id say that if its expired, its done, finished, no refund, does it not get any more simple?
That's what makes the world go round mate.Originally Posted by ossies
By the validity date of course. I ask you a question.........Why would you purchase a promotional deal, which obviously offers discounts when you don't have a set plan to make proper use of the voucher?Originally Posted by ossies
As far as I understand (no matter who you purchase the voucher from) it is clearly stated a period in which you can make use of these vouchers. Without knowing the agreement quite possibly the food had been purchased and prepared especially for that period and when the date passed the menu's changed.Originally Posted by ossies
If other people are ringing up, as you did, asking to work outside of the terms of the agreement it could turn into a logistic nightmare.
Best stay within the terms of the agreement and if one party foks up, tough titties.
It's just that having been in the hospitality business myself, if I was confronted with the same set of circumstances my response would have been different.
Anyway, no more to say on the subject and I hope the food is as good as Timber's reputation for where we have made reservation to celebrate this evening
With all due respects that's probably why you are no longer in that business.Originally Posted by ossies
If you had gone to Timber's gaff and met the bloke he normally jumps through hoops to please his customers (particularly TD members) of which I have scolded him about.
Your negative post was not appreciated when the only person to fok up was yourself.
I sincerely hope you do make it down there as I am sure you will have a wonderful evening.
I was there this week and last week,
I couldn't find the famous steaks being featured online during the soft opening,
I particularly recommend the entree cheese plate, nicely presented and excellent. Quite cheap overall.
oh and nice Belgium Beer, not found else where
Not even in Belgium?Originally Posted by Butterfly
Don't you think a business has enough to deal with without having to deal with idiots who can't organise their life, I have to admit if I had a ticket to something that had already expired or I wanted to extend it beyond the conditions I wouldn't even think of phoning them, I would just throw it away or give it away, fuk me, what people will do for a cheap meal. They even post about it on here.Originally Posted by ossies
I'm with the majority here ossies.
You don't turn up at 7.05 for a 7 o'clock train.
ossie, you bought a cake, put it in the fridge for a week while you knew it would be expired on day 6, you didnt eat it because your gf would come on day 8 so you could eat together. Would you take it back to the shop asking if you could change it?
Dont tell us that you didnt know when your gf's birthday was..
...
Got a week in BKK coming up from the 16th.... wondering if Timber is still at this restaurant..... any one know?
Sadly, he's at another place but is managing, not cheffing. Can't remember the name; sounds like Dolce & Gabbana.Originally Posted by toslti
