Thought the Bulls Head closed some time back? would not eat the grub in any of these pubs, bit expensive for me
I've been there once, that was enough. Was that with you?Originally Posted by Bobcock
I've actually kinda gone off the whole idea of [Insert Nation of Choice] pubs in general a little bit. What's the point really. It's only an X, Y, or Z pub in name only.
I think you mean analogy.Originally Posted by Seekingasylum

Pity Marmite buggered off
He was in BREW on Saturday night..... we got rather pissed we did
where is that Pub?
one on tonglor one on soi 11
Bob?
how's Marmers doing?
That guy who owns the Black Swan also owns a new pub not far from where the old Black Swan was. It's a few metres walk off Asoke bts, near soi 14, It's called the Forge and does a nice pint.
sukhumwit 11 also has a branch; its small and noisy but its still there
at the T junction
dont know the soi on Thonglor but i do know where the pub is
sorry I misread what you said, it is on TL 13..... I thought you were saying TL 11... which you didn't......
looking back it werent that clear....
That was a fun place and a very good time indeed. Great seeing you again.Originally Posted by Bobcock
Reading the OP brought back memories. I apologise for finishing off the last can of Brains Welsh Bitter in the Royal oak last night. Good stuff.
Londoner is now on Pattanakarn - and I thought it was an odd location (although close to where I live) initially - but they are doing really well.
Brew on ThongLor is gone. Replaced by a pirate ship - which is pretty cool.
Robin Hood - I like Billy but the food here is bloody awful and has been for years.
Royal Oak - used to be Bulls Head - unbelievable how badly the owners of that place screwed up and lost the lease - but the guys that took over & smashed the front out really did a great job. Food isn't as good but a much improved venue - just poorer management in terms of the personal touch
Bull & Bush - mythical venue on Soi 33 - Billy (ex Bulls Head/Barbican & current Robin Hood) - tried to put this together but as lovely as he is, literally couldn't organize a piss up...
Huntsman - ok pub but very expensive and not worth it unless you have 4 adults for Sunday buffet
White Beer'd - CDC - great venue, loads of beers (like Fullers ESB) - and nice indoor & outdoor location - plus they know how to take care of you - won't suit anyone who doesn't venture outside Sukhumvit
Won't go through them all - but they all have their charm
In 2020 news:
The Old English Pub in Thong Lor is offering pints of Leo for 40bht from 2-3pm on weekdays. Great timing for those retired and on a budget. Or those TEFLers that don't start at the Language School till 5.
There's also a new branch of The Royal Oak at Bearing BTS.
The Royal Oak Bearing is tiny but amazingly good.
