Taking the lead from DD's thread on how healthy the Doner Is. Being a Doner Addict, where is the best one sold in LOS? I like the ones about 100 Yards up Sukhumvit Soi 3.......

There is a Lebanese near soi 9, great food and great doners, they call it shawarma i believe...
One rolling food stall, late at nigth on Soi Cowboy, they are good too, but this is probably due to the fact that it is late at nigth when i try him out...
Suspect this is a comman issue!!!Originally Posted by forreachingme
Best one I ever had was from a small joint in Sukhumvit Soi 5. On the main road side of foodland. The bloke selling them was there last Saturday night, but I went back on Monday and Tuesday and no sign of him. The sheilas selling noodles and crap said he's only goes there on busy nights. My brother and I had about 6 of them and the bill was only about 300 baht. Only downside was I had to buy the beer in foodland.

You can't get a proper doner in Bangkok anyway.
There are many places you can get shwarma and other kebabs though, like Sukhumvit around Soi3/5 and there's even a woman stopped in Soi Cowboy on occasion.
The Londoner had a Doner on the menu but I wasn't brave enough to try it and Suzie Wongs tried it for a while but it didn't catch on and the idea was scrapped.
Mortals you defy the Gods, I sentence you to travel among unknown stars, until you find the Kingdom of Hades, your bodies will stay as lifeless as stone.
Not sure if its still there but Dave's Chippie on Lamai Beach used to do a good kebab topped off with a lovely bit of garlic mayo..fookin yum. Another guy opened up in the same area, called his shop DK soulfood, not bad grub but the owner didn't stop banging on..you near enough had to say his food was the best on the whoile fuckin planet before you could leave the place. Stopped going there after two visits.
Best thing to do I reckon is make your own, using real lamb.
Anyone wo would eat anything cooked out in the open on the streets of Bangkok needs their head read.
What with all the fvcking pollution, street dust and rats running everywhere you are tempting long term fate!
Best buy food prepared indoors IMO!
By the way Pattaya is getting just as bad on the pollution front although it has the sea breeze to blow the shit away!
True. With street food, everytime we eat it, we are taking a risk. Even at places where we've eaten at many times before and never had a problem.
But...I still eat street food is it's really good, (I think clean) and at times convenient.
One thing I usually do is:
1. I eat street food earlier in the day. Not in the hot afternoon, when it's been in the sun, and heat. People also like to touch the food (e.g. chicken) with their dirty hands, and poke it, and then put it back and buy another one.
I think the Kebabs are safer than the chicken and other street stuff, like Lop on the street.

I used to have lunch in a small place in Nongua and the fucking flies were terrible on everything, but I ate Pad thai everyday for lunch with a bottle of coke they kept on ice for me, and the last time I ate there I notrice some black spots in my chuck, so upon exam, it was fried flies, so I calls over the gal and asks about that shit, she shrugs her shoulders and walks away, so I drinks me coke and lays a 100 baht down, knowing I would only be charged for the coke,,,, In a pigs ass, she charged me the 20 baht for the fucking pasta too.
Only thing I eat away from my house unless it is a nice clean eating shop like inside a mall, would be a hard boiled egg and a bottle of coke,, something that can not get their nasty fucking shit hooks on.
But anyway back to the question,, the last Donor I ate was in a little shop just down the street from the Middle East Hotel in Manama Bahrain, and it was clean and very good, I usually had one before going back to the dredge I was on or the Shaker flats Guest house of B&R Wimpy after I went to work for them.

Well then you have never been to NY City NY. cause they have a goodly variety of street food, it clean and is inspected and is the best street food in the world,, but besides that and that big fucking statue that the frogs gave em, that place is the asshole of the world,, must be it's close proximity to Philadelphia, I joined the Moose Lodge there once so I could drink on a Sunday.Originally Posted by Wayne Kerr
