Since we agreed on the 16th for having a dinner at your restaurant, Timber, I think I will try the wine you have in stock.
Slight edit on your comment. Should be a happy face. Glad to hear you are doing well. Only been to your place once and I believe you have it just right. Keep up the good work.Originally Posted by Timber

I am looking forward to try your cooking sjkills, Timber. I am sure the missus will like it too.
Hmm, there is that, so I could be talking bollocks as usual.Originally Posted by Thai Pom
Timber, your place rocks! Can't wait to get back there!
I had a fantastic meal at Timba's tonight, a real treat. I've been to his place before when he was at his old location and I enjoyed it, but I was never 100% on the food because then he was serving Thai-French steak and for me, a cheapskate, it didn't warrant the price. But things have changed considerably with his new restaurant and his new home aged imported steaks.
I will admit now I have never eaten at the new york steak house in BKK and whenever I have eaten out both here and in London I rarely go for steaks, but without a doubt the steak I had tonight was the best I have had in my 31 years as a beef eater.
It was absolute magic, amazingly tender, full flavoured, a lovely sized chunk of meat and laid out on a bed of delicious onions with a side order of potatoes.
Honestly, this is not another 'all hail Timba food' thread for no reason, the man can really cook a cut of meat like you have never tasted it before, it fell apart in the mouth, and the taste was with me hours later, even after copious ciggies and beers at the nana. I probably bored the guy to death raving on about it as the evening progressed!
I was at first a little surprised we didn't get as many potatoes as in the waynekerr meal pic, but then, (without even asking) Timba brought out another lot of potatoes for us, as well as another full plate of onions, and then some ribs of venison (something I have never eaten before) with his special reduction sauce which was a fine desert for red blooded men like ourselves.
It's one of those restaurants where you just can't go without, nothing is too much trouble and I very much doubt anyone leaves there without a full stomach. Very rare to find a restaurant like this in fact, his cheffing abilitles will keep the place alive, his generosity might kill it though!
Regards to costs, I think Blake7 found it reasonable, whilst myself and Butterfly would agree that we could happily eat at that cost daily. Thank you Blake7!
I'm not sure Butterfly did as well with the bills at the bars afterwards though.
So a quick summary of our night at Timba's: great food, value for money prices, perfect host, good staff (something noted), and Timba is rubbish at pool.

I should also mention the great crab cake and fig salad starters, and his fresh cooked bread with melted butter and balsamic vinegar, but his steak overshadowed everything for me.
Perhaps Teakdoor's token Frenchman, Monsieur Flutterby, can complete the review...

Right, that has done it for me. All these good reviews, they can't all be wrong!
I will be over there in a few weeks so will see you soon Timba. Might even bring the family as my wife is a bit of a steak connoisseur, Is the place kid friendly? (2 kids under the age of 3?)
News is what someone, somewhere is trying to suppress - everything else is just advertising.
When will you arrive, Memock, in time to meet us there?
I'd say the place is 100% kid friendly, it's not what you would call a 'stuffy restaurant'.
In fact I always imagine at these kind of places you would get great food but in minuscule and overpriced proportions, but its just not the case, even the big boys of the forum chitown and dalts will testify to leaving the place with a full stomach.
Honestly MeMock, highly recommened, a memorable meal.
I think Butterfly at some point said he was going to treat us to the next meal there, but he was probably too drunk to remember this and will not admit it now. I'm sure Timba and Blake7 will recall it though, (and I could probably drum up some tuk tuk driver witnesses too if neccesary).
I was however disappointed the Scamp called to confirm he was too hungover to join us.
Hi Fabian, yes I am hoping I will be able to join you as I fly in on the 16th but at something like 2am. I hadn't said anything earlier as I have no idea how I am going to be feeling so didn't want to say I would be there and not show up.
I am flying solo with my 1 year old so it is gonna be a tiring trip for sure so will just have to see how it all pans out.
You did say the 16th didn't you? What time and who is coming?
I hope you will have enough time to relax so you could make it, that would be really nice.
I think so far we are Marmite and some undisclosed companion, Bkkandrew my missus and me.
For the time I think we should let those have a say who have to work on that day as for me it does not really matter.
well, I will certainly come back, and yes it was a very very nice meal. I think Blake7 got away with such a nice meal for a bargain, I feel cheated after he promised an expensive meal at Rossini. But the steak at Timba was definitely worth it.Originally Posted by bkkmadness
Yeah, I was quite surprise that our resident Champ didn't join us for desert and coffee. He had a very good excuse though: he was dead drunk the night before, stripping naked in front of guests before passing out in some deserted little soi.Originally Posted by bkkmadness

Probably best to wait for Timber's comments on this, but I'd say yes. Wayne Jnr really enjoyed and is even asking to go back.Originally Posted by MeMock
