I do the rounds of the local restaurants, you know how one place does the best noodles another the best Larb...I have it sussed now and there are enough different ones to make the week through. I love pas-e ue (no idea if that makes sense)
These are the cheap, locals places.
Interestingly, it seems the fatter the chef, the tastier the food!
It's the best and miss it like hell when I am away working.
Fahn Cahn's
As promised, here's my Indian shrimp curry:
This uses cumin, turmeric, garlic, ginger, coriander seeds & leaves, yogurt, salt, and shrimp with a jalapeno pepper for some kick.
As served:
Damned fluorescent lights make it hard to photograph yellow.
For some whimsical reason me 'n the missus went to Au Bon Pain for lunch.
She had chicken ceasar wrap, I had HALF a ham and cheese sandwich, a coffee and a Kiwi juice.
300 Baht. I couldn't believe it until I put my specs on and saw the menu.
The moo toop I bought in the first wat on the left on walking street, you know, the one where all the thai grilled and fried foods are being prepared? She to the right near the back, been there every Sunday for the last two+ years. The sauce is nice and gingery. Tell her frankie sent ya. She won't have clue what you;re on about, but tell her any way.Originally Posted by Skulldigger

Driving through Phitsanolouk the other day I was overcome with a desire for a pizza until I remembered the last time I stopped off there it cost me 400B
stopped at a roadhouse and had some of that crap geng that they have. Still, it was 55B for two of us and cokes.
A egg mayo and cress sandwich for me lunch and mincemeat with gravy and mash for tea.
Had to be a chicken kebab today bought from South Pattaya, just wish he had some really greasey lamb to chuck in there.
I think I speak for everyone DD, when I say that that looks delicious.
I had a pack of mini goat-cheeses (special offer in Waitrose) - very nice, like eating fresh-milk is the best description I can find at the moment.
Steak.Great big lump of aged kiwi steak.Soft as butter and red in the middle.
I had Chicken Shawarma and salad.
Food.
Cheese salad and a cake with icing and a cherry on top.
mutton curry and rice. no pic i am afraid. will do better next time
Cheese and tomato and Branston pickle sandwiches - three of 'em and huge, with about 5 cups of tea to wash 'em down. Lovely.
Mine too - also cheese and cucumber, but must have a dollop of mayonnaise or salad cream with it.Originally Posted by slimboyfat
Try it. It is one of the great sandwich condiments.Originally Posted by slimboyfat

I'd rather have larb and khao nieow....
