Yes, I love the pickled radish, and a side of Kimchi too. I'm not a fan of pork galbi, or spicy fish soup. I'm picky on what I eat here. The food isn't my favorite thing in the world, but I have went from not liking Kimchi, to eating some kimchi. Did you like bibimbab? So PB, do you like the pickeled radish they serve with the "kimbap"? I miss the grilled pork (taegie Kalbi) with all the various kimchis..... and in the winter time in Kor, there is nothng like a hot bowl of "Taegu Tong" (spicy fish soup) served with rice and a cold beer. The Kor cusine, one of the few things I miss about being in Kor.
Black Canyon: Black Hazelnut frappe, Grilled green curry chicken & a side of French Fries. Probably not the diet option, but pretty yummy. The dip they do with the green curry chicken skewers is really nice.
Khao klook a pik ( ? ) very nice it was too.....an Indonesian invention I think ?
Halibut BBQ! The guys went fishing, so we made a meal like this:
Spaghetti Carbonara and some fresh bread. Bottle of water and an apple.
Tinned mackerel on toast and a glass of milk and a packet of pokey. I was too lazy to go down to the shop.
I had Bacon, Lettuce, and Tomato (BLT) with mayo, salt & pepper on whole wheet slightly toasted bread. Delicious and first time I've had this in a while. Reminds me of the summer time back home when mom used to make these for dinner.... not luch have you but dinner.
"Don't Sweat the Small Stuff....and it is all small stuff"
Nothing yet. The day is still young.
Thinking about Larb today. It's a lot more healthy than most of the stuff out there so long as you avoid the rice.
Picked up a big bunch of celery cheap in Big C yesterday ( 15 baht ) so made a big vat of celery soup today........velly nice sahib !
Nothing. I just completely over slept. I was supposed to get up at 11am and just woke up at 3pm. I'll wait for dinner now.
Spaghetti alio olio e peperoncino.
And then I finished off the pancake batter I made last night.
Vietnamese food which I find quite bland when compared to Thai food.
This evening had this really strange baked bird dish that was tasty but a pain in the arse to eat.
I have no idea why they bother to cook the birds when there is no meat on the bones.
Honey soy sauce chicken wings... it's the only one dish that I can eat very well apart from chips hehehehe... yum yum!!!
I was at a wedding in Saigon last year and the food was equal to, if not better than, anything I've had in Thailand.Originally Posted by Loy Toy
In the South it is less spicy but that's the most bland region.
I've had French food in Hanoi that betters anything similar available in Thailand and at reasonable cost. French restaurants in Bangkok are extortionate.

I absolutely love the Vietnamese breads and especially the coffee and it is worth going there just for that experience.Originally Posted by EmperorTud

Really I found the food in general or more particularly the taste of the food to have no real distinctive direction but then again you have mentioned the food from the south is not as good as the food from the north.
I am going to Hanoi in a couple of weeks and look forward to trying the cuisine there. Maybe I better take a jar of Prik Nam Pla with me just in case.
How much do you weigh Tud? you seem to eat like a king!
Had it again. I'll take a photo if I have it again next wednesday.Originally Posted by The Fresh Prince
Chocolate Ice-Cream
Four hours outside of Khon Kean, on the way to Bangkok (just off of Highway 2?) there is a nice restaurant called Dairy Home where I stopped off to have my lunch today. I believe they make their own ice-creams (at least 20 different flavors) and pastries (they serve beer and wine also). I have eaten there several times and every meal has been good,..but pricy.

Funny you should ask. I dunno. Last time I weighed myself, about 18 months ago I was creeping up around 14 stone and had an ever increasing beer belly.Originally Posted by The Fresh Prince
I'll be less now though, I do yoga, kenpo karate, plyometrics, light weights and other martial arts training on a daily basis. The belly is gone and my stamina and fitness had increased back to pre-Thailand days and is still increasing as I continue to work out.
One of the key things is diet though. All the meals I eat are non-processed and using fresh ingredients, prepared by myself. I don't drink carbonated sodas or eat sugary foods and I eat 5 times a day. Breakfast, snack, lunch, snack and dinner or tea.
I have replaced all the shite I used to snack on with fruit or fat-free yoghurts.
Biggest improvement has to be not eating out all the time, especially Thai food.
Forget eating the slope food and eat French. Fantastic French wine and a Beef Bourguignon is all you need. Le Cylco is a good restaurant.Originally Posted by Loy Toy

What weight were you and when you arrived in LOS?
I like French Food but my people there are all Chinese so its off to the local restaurants most of the time.Originally Posted by EmperorTud
I certainly will check out Le Cylco next time I am there mate!
