This is true....When I visit Thailand I bring a large packet of Tetleys and my own small kettle. It means a decent cuppa no matter how cheap my accommodation.
BTW, one year I took those items in one piece of handluggage. At security I was told that each tea bag had to be opened and that I would have to put a sample from each teabag on my tongue. They said that they would reseal each bag with cellotape for me. I looked round for the cameras (was it a tv stunt? I thought) but no!!! they were serious. My only option was to leave the packet of teabags behind at security. I didnt have enough time to fool about tasting each teabag.
