    Cheesecake Factory

A day for over-indulgence at Central World. We didn't realize how large the restaurant space is and how thoroughly over-staffed. An over-eager young waiter was assigned to our table and actually had to be told to stand down while we read the extensive menu. Not knowing plate sizes we ordered two appetizers, two mains and one dessert. I had a Ketel-one dirty martini while SD had a yuzu fruit drink. The appetizers arrived quickly: a huge plate of calamari and a deep-fried salmon wrap thingy on a large mound of deliciously dressed red cabbage. We should have stopped right there as the quantity and quality were sufficient for a satisfying lunch. Then came an enormous bowl of fish (cod) and chips and a very tasty slaw. SD and I shared this well-prepared dish while waiting for his barbecued burger...which (fortunately) never arrived. We canceled his order and complained about the 25-minute wait: a supervisor rushed over to assure me that there would be no charge (of course) and a complimentary cheesecake dessert would be served in compensation: a tiramisu delight (with coffee liquor) that was, I must say, challenging to get down. Yes, of course it was delicious...Overall: higher prices than usual but nothing shocking, over-eager service that will probably settle down once the restaurant has been opened a while, and very large US-sized servings that numbed us into a stupor as we waddled out of the restaurant. We'll be back...

I would not recommend this place.

The prices are truly stupid for what you get.

Of course, if you have an bottomless wallet, then why not.

If you are visiting Bangkok I highly recommend Ohkajhu.

They must be new...Easy Burger looks very interesting. Prime Burger does as well. Easy Burger has been added to the list.

The Burger Bro on Phra Ram 9 Soi 49 is very near where I used to live so we were frequent customers and back then, for the price, they were the best burger around. Their lamb burger was superb, but I've not visited in 3-1/2 years so things could have changed.

The burger was just so so, maybe I just got them on the wrong day or I ordered the wrong burger for me.

^ I think they expanded and the quality went down with it.

The Rama 9, Soi 49 branch was the original. I used to go there once a week back in the day and couldn't fault it. You had to get there early for a lamb burger because they sold out quickly.

The burgers were handmade and fresh, with an array of unlimited condiments that you could help yourself to.
    Black diamonds? I shit 'em.

I doubt it's the same chain, but I'm not sure. They started out only about 5-6 years ago.

^ That's a great soi for food, lots of good restaurants there.

Here's a review of Burger Bros from back in the day: Burger Bros (Burger Bros - Phra Rama 9, Soi 40/Hua Mark Rd, Soi 25)

I had a Philly cheesesteak sandwich from Beast and Butter today. It was fantastic.
