A day for over-indulgence at Central World. We didn't realize how large the restaurant space is and how thoroughly over-staffed. An over-eager young waiter was assigned to our table and actually had to be told to stand down while we read the extensive menu. Not knowing plate sizes we ordered two appetizers, two mains and one dessert. I had a Ketel-one dirty martini while SD had a yuzu fruit drink. The appetizers arrived quickly: a huge plate of calamari and a deep-fried salmon wrap thingy on a large mound of deliciously dressed red cabbage. We should have stopped right there as the quantity and quality were sufficient for a satisfying lunch. Then came an enormous bowl of fish (cod) and chips and a very tasty slaw. SD and I shared this well-prepared dish while waiting for his barbecued burger...which (fortunately) never arrived. We canceled his order and complained about the 25-minute wait: a supervisor rushed over to assure me that there would be no charge (of course) and a complimentary cheesecake dessert would be served in compensation: a tiramisu delight (with coffee liquor) that was, I must say, challenging to get down. Yes, of course it was delicious...Overall: higher prices than usual but nothing shocking, over-eager service that will probably settle down once the restaurant has been opened a while, and very large US-sized servings that numbed us into a stupor as we waddled out of the restaurant. We'll be back...
