Good point Mendip.
Will try mushrooms with a nice Somerset cider.
Still cooking for myself so I decided to make use of all the fresh garden veggies that I have grown. So this is the blokes version of street tacos. :)

Boiling eggs in the Kettle ...
Take the egg/s, I usually boil 3. One to eat warm and a few for some sangers later, though SWIMBO does seem to intercept them.
Flick the kettle on for 10 secs to warm the water.
Place the eggs very gently into the kettle, I use a desert-spoon to lower them in by tipping the kettle @ a 45 degree angle.
Let them rest and come to room temp inside the kettle. What ever time, maybe 5 mins +
Flick the kettle on.

If boiled once, perfect for soldiers
(apologies for those here who childhood domiciles called them something else (referencing the Toad in the Hole debate)) ...

or ...
Hang out the washing, mow the front yard, read a couple of DH threads, what ever takes you more then 5 mins ... then flick the kettle on again.
Hard boiled ...

This only works if your kettle turns off fairly quickly after the boil point is reached.
The danger is if the shell cracks during/just after the first boil.
Why would I do this as opposed to putting a saucepan on the stove?
Well, I don't have an egg timer.
The kettle turns itself off.
Perfect for soldiers and hard boiled.
Plus two of the elements on the hot-plate are stuffed and the cut-out is narrow, it's a 420mm wide cut-out and most are a 510mm or square cut-out.
I want to replace it with an induction cook-top, but it's difficult to find one at the Auctions with the slim-line dimensions and the new ones at the store retail for in excess of BHT 32,000. It only has 3 elements and we most likely to remodel the kitchen in the next 5 years so it would be a sunk cost.
Coming next time ...

Fuckin hell Jack. Wife left?
This isn't a Blokes cookery thread, it's a thread full of widowers, wife beaters and wifeless wankers with microwaves.
:)
Blokes eat bubble & squeak? I leave that for others to scoff while I nip out for a couple of pints.
