Apparently it all started during WWII as a substitute for expensive coffee. But what did coffee drinkers use before then? What do the village aficionado's do now? Do they roast and blend for their own consumption? Or do they buy recognised commercial brands?

I have been assured that the cobra brand is the worst of the lot and it is the brew everyone uses.

^^You need to roast your own or find a good roaster. Or just kill the taste with sugar and cream.
