    Atkins diet

Atkins diet has anyone tried it ???
Well I just did for the last 7 days and was shocked that I managed to loose 2 ½ kg in 7 days not that I am a fat barsted but after eating all them pigs on the spit and drink all them beers over the new year I had gained a bit of weight.
So I tried it and I can tell you that the fat just falls off over night.
And I get to live on steak eggs mushrooms Lamb Fish and heaps of green veg. But the down side is no beer sugar milk soft drinks or any carbohydrates
I even feel a lot better more energy and I don’t get that bloated feeling after meals
Anyone that doesn’t believe it give it a try it for a week

    great isn't it...
I managed to lose 10 kilos in not many months a couple of years ago and you get to eat loads of meat and fat.
Absolutely the most effective diet there is.

Yes I read that before I started I think as long as you dont stay on the diet for a long period and if you do the diet correctly you slow start adding other foods untill you hold your goal weight

Started at 95.5 kilos and now 93 kilos

    BULLSHIT.

    You lost WATER WEIGHT.

Atkins works for some folks. Keep trying it, and follow the directions, more or less.

The first week is all water weight. He did this on purpose to build "confidence."

As the originator of this thread knows, in the oilfield we take the rough with the smooth, sometimes we do a lot, sometimes - not too much!
I have spent a lot of time looking into diet, I don't have a weight problem, but have seen an awful lot of people die early from cancers etc!
I would like to die from old age, not some shitty disease bought on by poor diet!
Atkins diet was not perfect, but he was on the right track, add in a lot of vegetables preferably raw, and you are getting towards a near perfect diet, lots of protein, the veggies help burn up the protein, fine tune to what your body needs, extra virgin olive oil, some good apple cidar vinegars and you should be feeling pretty good
Don't even get into the food source, where did it come from? how has it been screwed around!!!
That gets kind of endless as we seem to have fcuked with just about everything!
Diets are BIG money, there will always be someone who finds fault!
The San Mig light beer is also not going to put on a lot of weight and tastes - ok, we need fluids, we can't be expected to go thru life with no beer!
    Cheers

Eating healthily and no alcohol does not make you live longer, it just seems longer.

I suffer from chocolate cake retention.

I eat along the lines of the Atkins diet, with a few modifications, so I also have a few beers or a bottle of wine in the evening. I have two teaspoons of sugar in my morning coffee, and only one cup a day, I drink green tea / water/ real fruit juice otherwise. I monodiet on either meat /vegetables / fruit/plain yoghurt and also create great soups!

I have also found ginger, garlic and chili as a basic condiment helps me skinny up too. I have lost just under a stone, in weight since Xmas and feel great, full of energy and now exercising more as I enjoy it more.

I highly recommend the Atkins diet.

I did and it worked. But you have to read the book to get the right motivations or else it will be hard.

It seems an easy diet but in reality it's not. Also some people can't go through it because too dangerous.

Lost 5kg the first week which was the max allowed by Atkins, and managed to loose an average of 3kg per week after that, eating absolutely everything I liked. I had that big addictions to sugar, and this is now gone. My taste has also changed. Can't eat anything with sweet or sugars without feeling dizzy.

One major side effect was the energy I was getting. Too much of it, which made me hyper, not good. I had to slow it down because I was in bad mood all the time how things were slow.

I still do the level 1 once in a while to re-adjust my weight, but in general I eat pretty much what I want, and avoid all sugar contents.

This means I can't drink juices, milk, eat chocolate etc... a bit annoying. Also drink is forbidden so there is a few contradiction with my lifestyle, hence forcing me to go to level 1 once in a while.

Still it's a great diet if you are overweight and have a sugar addiction problem. It will get rid of it all, but at a price.

    Attention
Rice is also strictly forbidden, a bit of a problem for us here who enjoy Thai food and probably another reason why i am getting fat again here. Asians are immune to rice. We are not.

dont forget that when losing large amounts of weight over a short period your body will go into panic mode and later will put all the weight back on very quickly if you finish the diet.
1 kg per week is the rate at which most experts agree is the best.

Dieting is is a short term fix to a lifestyle problem and its the lifestyle that needs to be fixed by making better choices and not by tricking the body with flashy diets.

    ^^ Spot on,

I gained weight not by overeating but by being deskbound and drinking alcohol nearly every day for about 9 months, where previously I was active and drank moderately, like a couple of times a week. Never had a sugar addiction, so could binge on chocs occasionally.

Exercise is the best, lots of walking and canoeing and press/pull ups.

Apologies Rigger for my curt post.

    Beer + passion = well.....

Some people have benefitted from Atkins and if it works and your trygliceride levels are good on it, then continue, good luck, and keep us posted.

I found wholemeal bread (home made from fresh ground wheat) helped reduce weight due to the Vit B content, water loss was the result, up to 10 lbs weight lost in just over a week, about a pound a day.

I noticed friends on going onto more whole foods and cutting out of all processed foods lost weight heaps.

The so called Zen macrobiotic diet is a drastic weight reducer, brown rice and sesame seeds with salt, along with one serving spoon of sauteed vegs per day knocked all the fat off me fast, in about three weeks. Only drank water.

Amazingly, I was able to keep up work as a builder in Qld outback, tons of energy.

Broke the diet when I went on to the cane, a big bloody mixed grill fry up, the works, with coffee and toast and marmalade. Farted like a trooper all that day!

Amazingly, I didn't regain my fat layer again for many years, not a scrap, untill I started drinking again.

Milkman, it would save you the bother of apologising al the time, if you weren'[ so fukking curt to begin with.

    BTW
I just ate a 3 egg omelette with cheese and sausage.
Tonight I'm having a very big steak.

Not such a tough diet this one.

Haven't had a chip or a potato or a rice kernel in over 2 years.

    OK, I'm in.

    Yesterday I ate...

    A ham & cheese omelette.

A green salad (no dressing) and some marinated beef strips.

3 'German sausages' wrapped in bacon.

1 cup of coffee (no milk).

I presume the coffee is not allowed, but I'm not sure.

    Gee that sounds pretty good.

I had. 2 pieces (small) of home made beef pie, a capsicum, handful of salted peanuts, smoked chicken breast no skin, beetroot and a small serving of chicken stirfry.

Do I qualify or will I still be a fat bastard?
