    Laying Turf

I've just knocked a load of concrete out of my front garden and I'm now thinking of putting a lawn down.

I've measured the area at about 25 square metres.

As you can see it's rubble at the moment, so it's going to need some preparation before the turf can go on.

Anyone know what a good price would be for getting good quality turf laid including the cost of turf, soil, sand, labour, transport etc....

Also, how difficult is it to seed your own lawn in Thailand? Everyone seems to get turf laid.

Thanks for the help if you give me any.

Turf starts at 12baht to about 40baht per sq meter, that's delivered and laid, the dirt question is a bit more difficult, by the bag its 20baht per bag, black lower quality dirty is 1,800baht for a 10 wheel truck load, the labout you would have to sort out.

Well since there has been such a wealth of interest in my lawn, I thought I'd give you an update.

The original reason I posted was because someone gave me quote of 10,000 baht for the 25 square metre area, which seemed very high and DD's post confirmed it.

Anyway got some other guys to do it on the cheap and decided to do my whole garden, which was about 80 odd square metres. The turf was 14 baht per square metre and we got 85 so it came to about 1,500 baht including delivery and a bag of fertilizer.

The sand was the biggest cost. We needed over 10 cubic metres which came tp about 3,000 baht.

We paid the labourers 2,000 baht which is probably quite a lot for a days work, but it ain't exactly gonna break the bank.

So the total came to less than 7,000 baht for the whole garden, compared to the original quote of 10,000 for less than half of it.

I'm happy with it at the moment, I just hope it lasts.

It looks very nice, Nick. I see the turf is doing OK, despite those who layed it being clueless.

^Gone where? I assume you're talking about the so-called driveway.

I would rip it up and put more grass in, but I am told we need space to park the car that we might never buy and don't really want

In fact I went against popular opinion to take down the carport (which could house 2 cars which we don't have) and put this bit of grass in.

I thought it was a class moment.

nobody would have doubted it if it was Danbo.
