Plant To Retain The Ground ?

    hello,

My gf has a big land on 1 meters high and it's too expensive to build a wall to retain the ground, do you a nice plant to retain the ground, beautiful one with flowers or fruit and lot of roots ? We live right now in south Thailand in Phanga. Thanks

Have a look around your area to see what plants grow well, talk to a local supplier

you may find planting all around will be as expensive as building a wall!

Vetiver, a kind of grass, is used for holding earth in Thailand. The roots grow about six feet into the earth and can withstand flood. It is easy to get. Sorry, but I forget the local name.

The local name is ' yah faek'

It will do the job. The top sides can grow to about 2 meters. To make it look nice you can cut and shape it like a low hedge. A good solution.

my lady plants lemon grass all round. grows easily, no maintenance. how good is it? Seems to hold pretty well, although i suspect the hidden agenda for her chosen plant is for the tom yum

Morning glory has nice enough white flowers and makes a decent ground cover, although you need to keep it watered. Tasty too.
