Prefer just the Mimosa without the Hostillis.

    No!

    let's talk about Mimosas

I’m not a drinker but the girlfriend loves her Mimosas. She used to drink them using Perrier-Jouet but she found out what Dom Pérignon was during our last visit to the states.

She will not be mixing her Mimosas with Perrier-Jouët any longer.

    Let's not. Life's too short.

Now here is a topic that deserves investigation. If I am very honest, I wouldn't mix a DP with anything, it's a bit like those rich Chinese in Macau ordering Petrus and adding a splash of 7-Up. Makes me cry.

    The start,..her first.

We were on a domestic flight in Thailand. Years and years ago.

It was early morning and a stewardess came to the both of us asking what we would prefer, orange juice or champagne.

    Mine: orange juice
    Hers: champagne

I got to thinkin’…….she might enjoy this.

I drank half my orange juice and gave her my glass. Told her to take my oj and add it to her champagne.

She enjoyed it. In fact, every flight they offer champagne and oj,………she was looking for half my oj.

Nowadays,……….. a lot of airlines will offer both oj and mimosas.

Moving from Perrier-Jouët to Dom Pérignon.

I don’t know the difference so I started with Perrier-Jouët based on a preference of one girlfriend I had while in college. We would occasionally eat at a French restaurant in Coconut Grove (Miami, Florida). She would always order lobster thermidor and a bottle of Perrier-Jouët. She would keep the flowered bottles.

About the girl. She was fvckin’ gorgeous. Model type gorgeous. And Dangerous. She was fun.

    Little more about her……

She lived with me for a while and for kicks she would put on a pair of short shorts, leave the house and take a short walk to the 7-11 for a coke.

The street to the 7-11 had a slow curve in it and you hear the cars running off the road (both directions) as she was walking on the sidewalk to and from the 7-11. I told her she was going to get someone hurt if she kept it up.

During the time she was with me, no grass was able to grow next to the roadway. Both sides.

Back to Perrier-Jouët to Dom Pérignon.

For years and mostly during a celebration I would pick up a bottle of Perrier-Jouët for the now girlfriend so she could make mimosas.

Few months ago, we were in the states and she was going through a stressful period and when it was finally settled we thought it might be a good time to celebrate. I purchased a bottle of Dom Pérignon so she could make mimosas.

After her first taste, she told me (with a smile) she wasn’t going back to Perrier-Jouët.

If there isn’t freshly squeezed orange juice or fresh Indian River Orange Juice in the house, she will drink the Dom Pérignon without mixing it.

My daughter was visiting us a few times and the girlfriend offered to make her a mimosa before noon. My daughter looked at her and told her it wasn’t even after lunch yet. That was my daughters first mimosa with Dom Pérignon. She enjoyed it.

There are 5 empty Dom Pérignon boxes in the house today that were drank within 2 months.

Before we left the states the girlfriend got online and located an establishment that will deliver Dom Pérignon to her here in Thailand.

    Happy girl.

    Back on topic.

What captivates you about Mimosa Hostili, taleb? Tell us your story.

And is Mimosa Hostili available in Thailand or is it just an Americas thing?

indeed and tells you all you need to know about Americans and taste. I fukin detest champagne and to me its overpriced drivel but mixing it with orange juice instead of some cheap rubbish is just typical of American lack of class
