^Flower stem grows right out of the center of the plant. The leaves are soft and tender, like a succulent. But, the shape of the plant is like a bromeliad.

Not a flower, per se, but this little gem showed up next to our stream this morning:

Yes, indeed. It had a beautiful color, which I didn't really capture, and a nice shape. No idea what it was, though.

    Ms. B Grabs the Camera

Her Mom got her this Cattleya for her birthday.

This Dendrobium is quite prolific with its small, multicolored flowers. We've had it several years now.

The two Ixora above are recent additions, but have been blooming like crazy since we put them in the ground.

    I took the next one:

We bought this Hoya (Wax Flower) in Ubon a few years back. The seller claimed it was an orchid, but, of course, it is not. It did nothing at the old house, but when we moved I hung it in a big Plumeria and it has taken off and put out several clusters of new flowers over the past week.

I was wondering the same about you....

I woke up early and couldn't get back to sleep. Have got a loaf of bread that needs baking and I was interested in seeing the photos we took yesterday in the garden.

Of course, you know the old saw, "Early to bed, early to rise...."

I woke up about an hour ago and couldn't get back to sleep. I know I'll be comatose just in time for the alarm to go off.

^ If you had Skype, I'd call you. (Not a complete pain, am I?)

Thanks for the photos, BH. That Hoya is amazing.

Was that a reference to me specifically, or early risers in general?

In general; if specifically, it would fit me.

was too lazy to come up with an anti-healthy/wealthy/wise list
    Great shots BTW.

This phalaenopsis has been blooming more or less continuously since December. The spikes just keep on forming buds. We haven't done any pruning.

    Got some white ones too.

The hard rain knocked a lot of the flowers off.
