Anyway, one more that's spectacular when flowering and still a pretty nice shrub at other times.

This one is called Clerodendrum Quadriloculare in Latin, sometimes 'Starburst' in English and 'Saow San Sai' (สาวสันทราย) in Thai...

The flowers seem to almost explode like fireworks.. But also the foliage is nice, with leaves that are dark green on top and dark purple on the underside.

Mine lost ALL its leaves in the hot/dry season but when the rain arrived it sprung back to life... Should flower in the winter months.

    Get one today.

Nope, none of the pictures are mine. The thing is not flowering at the moment so I had no alternative but to turn to Google Images, for once for non-porn related content. :P

Oh. Guess my interpretation was different in just showcasing flowering plants that work well in Thailand.

The alternative was to start a separate topic, but thought it fit better here.

I'll post my own pics in December or so.

Not Thai, but roses are grown in Thailand. The times I have been asked to buy roses in Thailand with 'have nice smell'. To me none of the Thai roses have any smell or perfume. This one is just outside my door, and has a beautiful scent, more so after the shower of rain when I took this picture

What variety is it? Looks like a Whisky Mac.

I used to love growing roses in the UK.

^ Not at all sure Marmite, the rose was here when I arrived albeit neglected. Pruned it nearly to the ground and has come back nicely. I had narrowed it down to three, Rosemary Harkness, Whiskey Mac and Elizabeth of glamis but this is a florabunda and the rose I am sure is a Hybid T. But as you know indentifing an unlabelled rose is like looking for a needle in a haystack. At least it is nice to know that you also chose Whiskey Mac.

This is one of the downsides, for me, of living in LOS. You can get Roses here, but they have little or no scent. My old house in Blighty was a tribute to the rose. Climbers, ramblers, standards, bushes and the 'wild' variety. I used to love the delicate single row of petals. I remember the Whiskey Mac as being more of an old gold colour. It's the scent that really gives it away. It stays in the nose, long after you have walked away. My information is a few years old now, so I could be wrong about the colour. If you could post the smell Props.

    Sunsetter -

The first looks to me like a Hypericum possibly the Hypericum x moserianum.

No 2 - an excellant picture - I know it but can't put a name to it yet

No 3 - At first glance I thought of hibiscus but they are not in flower yet, could possibly be a cistus.

Best I can do from the photos - No 2 will come to me in a couple of days

Good call Marmite - it could well be. I forget about the the other varieties of Convolvulus as I rarely come into contact with them. The bladdy bindweed is a devil to get rid of.

For the first picture I think it is the Hypericum perfectorum the small herbacious perennial.

This one has been bugging me - had to get me trusty books out.

It is the 'Nigella' probably nigella damascena. Also known as 'love in the mist'.
    They self seed easily.
