    A Lantern Bug.
Curious George posted a website for identifying insects, on my "animal invasion" thread, I think.

    Excellent picture, AC.

My mangoes are all on the ground stinking. I used to pick them up every day so they didn't stink out the place when they started to rot. But the tree's nearly finished now. All day long - and all night - you could hear them falling off the tree: rustle, rustle, thud.

One good thing about the tree is the overpowering scent of the flowers before the fruit develops. Very nice.

The camera is a simple Canon A510 digital, 3.2 megapixel with a 4X optical zoom lens (5.8 to 23.2mm). For this shot I put it in macro auto-focus mode.

The camera has a fairly good macro manual focus mode, but I find that my near vision is not good enough to accomplish decent focusing in the small LCD screen, even with a pair of specs on. The auto focus works OK as long as there is not too much depth in the image.
